Monday 26/1/15 Napier. Picked up a walk guide from the Art Deco Centre and headed out to explore the city. Interesting history of the rebuilding of Napier after the earthquake in 1930 (???) The land lifted about 2m and created dryland from the lagoon that was next to the, originally, very small city. The beach shelves a few times quite steeply and is made up of pebbles, we went across it for a look at the water, the pebbles were roasting - people pay a lot of money for hot stone treatments! No one was in the water it looked quite dangerous because of the way the beach shelved.
