How's the chinese food, apart from dumplings Hope you got to eat the real stuff and not just dumplings. Your next excursion, try rollerblades. Might be easier than biking. You may have to tie a rope around your mom though to help her stop. Ha!ha!. just kidding.
To bad you can't post your photos. Enjoy Beijing.

KEEP THOSE BLOGS COMING!! Great to hear all about your adventures in China so far. Sounds like the larger ciites are ALL ABOUT shopping and the outlying areas provide more interesting snapshots of the country, judging from your commentary. Arlene....I haven't seen any emergency vehicles down the street at your house..... meaning.... so far, Roger is making out okay on his own...hahahahahaha! Glad you both are so enjoying your trip and can't wait to hear more!
Sharron
Nice to hear from you Was fit to be tied for a while not hearing from you. Glad you are enjoying your time. Sorry for you Arlene, of all place to lose a filling. Hopefully that got sorted out?
Things are fine on the home front. Matter of fract I think Alex is spending more time here than usual, so the company is great. I am realizing that I do take things for granted when mom is home. Because I do miss my girls. Pretty surprising that I would admit that but that is probably part of growing old.
Weather is just fabulous here. Think it was about 16 today. robins are back which is a sure sign of Spring. Alex and I take turns at supper, so it helps. Dishwasher is filled every night. Weve done a couple of laundry washes with no real catastrophy wich is a plus.
Bottom line, contrary to popular beleifs, we are surviving rather well despite everything. Have not seen much of an impact on the freezer however, which is unfortunate.
Signing off for now. Love you a whole lot. Dad
Great to hear from you!!! Glad to hear you both arrived safely to your destination, half way around the world. I called your Mom on March 13, thinking you were leaving that EVENING but talked to your Dad instead. Sounds like you are having a typical adventure over there, except for the FACE PLANT into a cement post and losing a filling....hahahahahaha! I can JUST SEE YOUR MOM'S REACTION!
Jessica and Brendan arrive this evening FINALLY after 3 1/2 years in Korea.....it will be soooooo good to have them back home once again, to begin their next chapter in life.
STAY SAFE!!! Say hi to Amy and your Mom.....can't wait to hear more.
Sharron
Can't believe this is the END!!! Well, as sad as you are to be completing your great adventure, so are we...the loyal readers of your Blog. What the heck am I going to read NOW where learn interesting things about far away places....I guess I will really now have to go to Korea, Thailand and China for sure this October and create my own blog..
Again, keep safe and see you back here on Heritage Road!
Sharron with 2 "r's" Roger!!!! Hi Carolyn! Almost time for the L-O-O-O-O-N-G flight home. Anxious to see you back on the bus to hear my daily installments of the adventures on your trip!! Yes, I finally talked your Dad into "getting with the program" and reading your Blog. I could not believe he was not following your adventures because he didn't know how! When he realized how simple it was.....
Well.... that's another story....you know how those old guys are reluctant to try new things. I think he is very anxious to have you home....as is your Mom.
Safe journey home Carolyn and look forward to seeing you!
Wow, I finally discovered the blog Hi kiddo. I finally got to the blog. Sharon told me how to do it. You know, us old guys can't figure things out as quickly, and of course a few younger ones that don't seem to have time to show you. Anuhow, I'm here and great pictures. You'll be able to write a book on your adventure and then some. hope you are keeping a good diary. when you get home you can publish your exploits in the newspaper.
Well the Mexico trip was great. The murder mystery hotel was quite the place. We went to Playa Del Carmen for an afternoon of shopping. Mom had a fascination for the Jewelry stores and was quite impressive in her wheeling and dealing. Nobody got realy sick on this trip. At least nothing immodium would not solve. Looking forward to having you back home. Unfortunately I will be on a flight from Vancouver to Edmonton to Calgary on the 9th. Should be back home on the 13th of April. So I'll get to see you then. I took your car for a run on Saturday to get the rust out of your brakes. Everything is fine. Have a great time and a great trip. Not sure I can extract ifo from the blog on my remote access, but I will try. Love you and see you soon.
What amazing pictures! Can't wait to see all those wonderful pictures you took while on your trip. I know your journey is almost to an end but at least you got to do and experience something out of the ordinary. Can't wait to hear all your wonderful/horrible stories. Take care! Looking forward to seeing you.
Awesome !!! I would have love to have been able to do that with you guys. That looks so cool, so much history there. I'm anxious to hear your comments about this. Thanks for the pics. xox

A sign of life from Ottawa Hey guys. Can't tell you how awesome it's been reading your journal entries. I'm just living through you guys, since I'll never be able to do what you're doing. Sounds like you stomach is taking a beating ! you keep speaking of these guest houses, I can't wait to hear you talk more about them, and to see the pictures. Carolyn: I can't believe you're already talking about your journey home. We miss you and can't wait to hear your stories live !!!!
Quite the experience... Wow..not sure if I DO really want to know what the hospital was like! Poor you. Hope you are feeling better now. I just can't believe the adventures you are having--I love travelling along with you. So glad you are finding the time to write to us. Think of all the things you are learning...like not following strangers to a lake, telling them about your family members and having to pay for it!! Too funny.
Yikes!!!! Geeze Carolyn!! Twelve hours in the general ward of an India hospital....sounds kind of brutal!! At least you can say your are experiencing things you would NEVER experience back home. Can't wait to sit on the bus each morning and night to hear episodes of your adventures, on your return. Sit with me!!! Not Roger!!!
a little advice I think someone's feeding you a pack of lies. You don't need 80 bucks to get into the Taj. I think it's around 15 bucks per person(non-indian citizens). Go see it, it's worth the visit.
WOW!!!!!! Sounds fantastic!!!!!!!!!!! Thank you for the update! I'm so excited to experience what you've experienced! You've got me roaring to go and I still have 6 and 1/2 months till we head out!:)
wow carolyn.. it's so funny how things put into perspective make your biggest troubles and trials the smallest blemishl... i sincerely hope ur trip to the orphanage made you realize how lucky and happy we really are .. xoxo and your pictures.. breathtaking...
from down the street in Russell Carolyn, from your descriptions, I can certainly understand how these experiences would indeed change you forever and give you proper perspective on what is important in life and what isn't. Your value system will never be the same. More of the world needs to bare witness to this part of history. Sharron
Paradise is right! Hey Sista! I'm am so happy that you are experiencing so much on this trip, I bet it is so much fun. I can't believe how beautiful the beaches are. Make sure to bring some of that sun and heat back to Canada when you return, we need it! Thanks for your great messages, they make me feel as though I am there with you (minus the alcohol and the hot weather). Anyway, keep searching for the Sex and the City seasons, I hope you find it! Love you. xoxoxox
Caro I would take the mice, the poop, the prospective painful massage, just to be WARM IN THE SUN DAMNNIT LOL, hope ur smiling Caroooo we miss you here
Thai Massage The Thai massage isn't painful at all. I would definitely recommend the whole body massage, soothes away all that aches and soreness. You should really try it.
Good times! Hey Carolyn! I heard about your food poisoning. It must be an international epidemic since I read your friend in South Korea had it and a whole bunch of people had it here too in Ottawa! I'm glad to hear you are feeling better and I hope you'll have better times at the beach! Have fun!
Enjoy the beaches!! Glad to see you are over the FP'ing. Enjoy those beautiful beaches and DON'T FORGET THE SUN BLOCK...sorry...it's the MOTHER in me. Looking forward to seeing more photos.
Sharron
