WOW Cannot believe I had not read this until now. I love it - you paint a wonderful picture for those of us who will probably never be lucky enough to experience a place like this!!! Keep travelling my beautiful daughter!
Soy la madre de Javi, hemos encontrado por casualidad tus sensaciones en España y parece que lo estás pasando bien. Me alegro mucho. Para lo que quieras ya sabes donde estamos.
Un beso.
Bueno Hola Cari
The DLs just completed a two week stay in Nicaragua, with Katie in tow. We saw and experienced much of the culture and geography; both fascinating.
I so enjoy your blogs, and it's exciting for me to read your comments about all the Spanish cities and towns that you are visiting and we too visited a couple of summers ago.
Your blogs relate many personal ups and downs....they are touching and make be feel you are closer to us in spirit than you are in miles. That's good. Keep scratching that pen. You're in a real growth and development experience....good for you and for all of the other couls you touch.
All best, mi amiga
PS; Sorry I missed finding you on your birthday. Though, Kate and the DLs toasted your passage on your special day.
Oh the life! I love, love , love reading about your adventures! I never know whether it is going to make me laugh or cry - sometimes both! I feel like I am almost there with you - but it just makes me miss you even more! Keep posting!
Thanks for putting this online, I know this is super random, but this just made me so happy, I volunteered here in the summer in 2009, and I miss it. I helped paint and put up the rainbow fence! They painted the roof of the little church red just as I was leaving. I really can't wait to go back there sometime, and the winter looks beautiful there! I <3 i copii!
am impressed Hi Cari,
I just stumbled on your blog and I must say that am very impressed - am a Kenyan living in US. Your descriptions and use of native words are on the mark. You have even done a better job than I could have - Thank you and hope you continue to enjoy Africa
Be blessed!
Kathy
Pictures Your commentary is so colorful and detailed, that one almost does not need photos to imagine it. I love all the history too. Debra says to save the photos, don't publish them now - save them for your book! "My Safari".
Affect I hope you have contact information for all of the new people who have affected your life and can stay in touch with all of them. I had to look up the word "affect" to make sure it was the proper one to use. Webster's defined it perfectly: 1. to produce an effect upon. 2. to stir the emotions of.
I feel that life will lead you back to Africa some day. I can only hope that I can be with you!
What an interesting time you're having! Cari,
I so look forward to reading your blogs! Your parents must be so proud of you.
I've been contemplating a visit to Ghana this fall and developing some reservations
due to discouraging comments other people here make about traveling alone and scammers, etc.
(you know the usual generalizations by folks who themselves have never been).
Anyway, reading your reports gives me confidence that I'll be just fine.
Do you prefer Ghana to Kenya?
Warm hugs,
AM
Going to Ghana, and I love your blog! Hello! I am a student at Purdue, and I'm going to be going to Ghana for my fall semester. I leave in two weeks, actually. I just wanted to say that your blog is absolutely fascinating. I have learned so much more from your travel log than from the Lonely Planet guidebook, or even my Ghanaian friends. Thank you for doing this blog!
Wow, Kenya. :) What an opportunity. I hear the wildlife there is amazing. And I've yet to meet a Kenyan I didn't like. :) I can understand you being frustrated with "Ghana man time." I encountered it once when I went to a wedding between a ghanaian and nigerian here in my home town. I was running an hour late, but when I got there it hadn't even started yet. Imagine my surprise. lol
Do you think we can still meet in Gh or will there not be enough time? If not then hopefully our paths will cross in the future.
Time Never enough time to get everything we want done in life! Maybe when you finish your newspaper job you could spend a little more time at the orphanage. It does your heart good! So many accomplishmennts to add to your resume! Some company is going to be oh so lucky to have you!!!
Wow, I read your pieces and I think you make a very good journalist. If I may ask, how did you get the job at the newspaper? I'm a freelance writer and I'd love to submit some articles to local newspapers and/or magazines. I plan to write a few travel pieces when I return home as well.
Thanks for the update...I was anxiously awaiting. :) Glad you got to revisit your little loves.
Do you believe Ghana beat the US for the 2nd time? Ouch. lol. But knowing we got beat by the Black Stars makes it not-so-bad! :) I agree, Donovan is awesome. He did great for what it's worth. I live in Southern Cali and I've been saying for years "I'm going to go see L.A Galaxy play." I really ought to!
Looking forward to your next post. :)
How funny that you saw the flash mob...I saw the video posted on the Ghana vodafone website and it's cool to see someone's firsthand account. lol. It sounds like you've been very successful in your writing. Best of luck with your non profit project.
Hi Cari, very insightful blog post. :) I arrived here by way of google after typing in "ghana travel blog." I'll be arriving there late next month and reading blogs like this is very helpful. Very funny about the malfunctioning taxi. lol. Oh Ghana...I know I'll have a lot to get use to!
GO! Venture out!! Always my answer haha. Love your stories and thoughts.. as always. And love you!! I get off right at 4 today (midnight your time i think) and work at 4:30 at the drive-in so I would love to talk to you in between!!!!! Mmmk byee!
I loved your Osu post and photos. Sounds like such an amazing time to be in Ghana right now, with the World Cup and all. It also sounds like you're having the most incredible experience working there! My blog is looking for travel photos, stories, reviews, etc, to share with fellow travelers. If you have the time, check it out at dirty-hippies.blogspot.com, or email me at dirtyhippiesblog@gmail.com.
