Misty, but vibrant. The mist in the mountains and trees is so beautiful! I think of Guatemala as hot, but this looks chilly (people with heavy jackets). How high are the highlands? I've really enjoyed following your adventure and your photos. Can't believe you only have a week and a day left to go! Looking forward to seeing you home soon!
Poverty of tragic proportions! What an eye-opener. The juxtaposition of the tree with the crows against the backdrop of the dump is a pretty powerful image. It just seems so Poe-etic. Nevermore. Nevermind - not worth thinking about. Anyway...It really is powerful to see the struggle of nature against what mankind is doing to the planet. The resilience of people who find a way to eke out a living for themselves and their families in such an environment is pretty danged amazing. And the fact that they somehow find a way to send their children to school to better themselves and perhaps find a way out of that life is a powerful story in itself. I'm proud of you for being there and working to make a difference in the world!
Birthdays! Amaaazing birthday celebrations! Happy belated, love!! I'm glad to see that you're enjoying yourself and experiencing the wealth of culture down there. xx
Hiiii! Happy belated birthday! Hope you had a great one :)
p.s. - what's your address? How am I supposed to send you things if I don't know how to find you!
Happy Birthday, Angel! Today is your birthday!! Wishing you a very happy birthday - pick out a fun pinata at the pinata factory!! You're having quite an adventure! The classroom looks great - love Oscar and Elmo! I'd have recognized the rainbow anywhere - you used to draw them everywhere!
that is the coolest thing EVER! i'm glad you're having a great time(even if it does make me extremely jealous - and the "it" refers to both the chocolate-making and the 'making-a-difference' thing).
Hola! Como estas?
I'm so happy for you! I'm sure you will have a lot of fun and learn a lot! I bet you will be able to speak Spanish 100% by the time you finish! You should go to Nicaragua! (thats where I'm from!!!) You can take the TicaBus! Yeah, a central American city is really really different than an American or European. I think you will learn to like it!!
lol
¡Estás allí! Look at me...such an avid blog follower. I'm so glad you've arrived! Obviously, I'm looking forward to some photos and descriptions of your experience. I'm very excited for you.
