Ramayana Well, there are many adaptations of Ramayana and the only one I know is the Thai version. But as far as I know, the Thai version and the Cambodian version are not the different. The point is I must disagree that the story ended happily. Although it did not have a tragic ending as Bophana and Sitha; it is contestable that Neang Seda really loves Preah Ream... Well, she was given to Rama because he won a contest. And then he did not really trust her throughout the story. But that might be my interpretation of the story. (I can tell you more about Thai version of Ramayana, and my view about it; if you would like to know.)
And that there are not many things for 13 - 17 th century, it might be because Khmer was conquered by Sukhothai and Ayutthaya. I must admit that the Thai states were quite nasty to the Khmers... I'm not sure if that is the reason, but it is possible.
Ha Long Bay Hey friend,
i am traveling to south east asia next spring and was really inspired with your last entry about vietnam...we plan on visiting there, any suggestions on where we should and should not visit???
thanks!!!

Hi Jamie, i have been following your Vietnam trip as I will be there for three weeks next month. I can't believe you are only 19 - your insight is wonderful and I really enjoy your narratives. I think you missed your calling - give up accounting (if that's what your are doing at PricewaterhouseCoopers), and go for journalism. Now the inevitable question - what tour company did you book with for the trip? and how much did you pay? (For Halong Bay I mean). I'm looking for up to the minute advice for this tour.I can't wait to get to Nha Trang so I can try the fart test in the mud bath! Travel safe Regards DB
dude...let me suggest u for free well...i am localite...stays at kolkata...
by metro Victorial memorial is the safest, cheapest and coolest way to reach...and be there before evening else the place will get closed...u dont need anyone out there...avoid the pimps and touts!
hang around central places like...park street, camac street and evening you can head to Howrah bridge and catch a ferry to cross the river....if u ask me what are your interests I will help you out free..and of course no money!!
Oh, the naivety of youth. Jamie, I wanted you to know how much I enjoyed reading your blogs - but, hey, you've been in India for only a few days and you've already been ripped off twice! Indian people usually go out of their way to avoid confrontation, so don't be afraid of voicing your objections very loudly, rather than submitting to their bogus demands - but be sure to do it with a smile. They won't be offended, just embarrassed that they caused you to be angry. Keep smiling!
I'm a 19 year old guy on his gap year. I've been working at PricewaterhouseCoopers for 7 months and I've just spent 3 months travelling to India and South-East Asia. Unfortunately I have to go to university now, but Europe is next on the list! What's below are my posts about India, Thailand, Cambodia and Vietnam.
