Diwali in Goa or Hampi? Hi! Really interesting to read all of this. I will have a similar itinerary when I travel South India during the time of Diwali. I was trying to be in Hampi for Diwali, however as traveling from Mumbai to Hampi passes by Goa, I was wondering if it wouldn't be more convenient to just stay in Goa and celebrate Diwali there before going to Hampi. I feel like Goa is really touristy and Diwali in Hampi might feel more authentic? Any thoughts?
Hi Christophe, thanks for reading! I think if you’re looking for a party then I’d imagine Goa would be the place to go, maybe Palolem? We only went there for a day from Agonda but there were lots of restaurants and bars etc. We really enjoyed being in Hampi for Diwali, it was nice to just walk around the streets and seeing the children setting off their firecrackers and seeing all the candles lit with the colours. I think if I remember rightly they celebrated for a few nights. If you do go to Goa I’d recommend checking out Agonda, it was really beautiful and one of the nicest beaches we came across during our whole trip! Enjoy whatever you end up doing!
Hello & belated happy birthday Just read this and feel exhausted by all the ups & downs! Glad to hear that all is still going well for you both. This is just a brief note before I'm off to work - someone's got to do it I suppose... Keep on enjoying yourselves
I'm sorry but I'm still rubbish about birthday's But it seems to have happened and been okay? Lots of love Kate xx
Hello Just caught up with you - it's like buses - nothing happens then three come along together! Glad that all is going well. You are certainly packing a lot in. I'm sure there are even more adventures that don't hit the blog! so there will still be tails to tell when you get back... Keep safe and enjoy South America Love Kate & Mark
Strange time zones! Mark told me that you have reached New Zealand so not sure what is happening here! But never mind. Hopefully you'll get this brief message. Hope all still going well with you? Gave up and a took a day off just got fed up with the cold and the over the top weather reports. It is b***** cold outside so I didn't fancy working in the stores so a day at home in the warm is fine by me! Have been looking closely at the old photo albums but there is no info as to where Great Grand father & mother Leon George & Queenie Pearl lived in New Zealand. Just a few views of a bungalow, sheep and some shacks! And a couple of families that befriended them. So hopefully you have received similar hospitality. Good to see that you are still enjoying it all. Hopefully Julia is surviving your company and manages to get a bit of a break from the beer fuelled events! She seems to hold her own! Great times to you both Lots of love
Kate & Mark
Hope you had a good Christmas & Happy New Year Happy times to you both. I hope you managed somewhere good to celebrate Christmas may be Santa found you with a couple of presents? But I afraid we couldn't help him this year.... We went off to Southampton and had Christmas with our friends down there. It was good to get together with all of them and help Jac with the preparations. There were 15 of us for lunch so it took a while to get the crackers made and the veg cut up.
So our dinner was very conventional - turkey with all the trimmings. I can quite believe how the rest of the week has zoomed by. It seems horrific that working is looming up on the horizon again. Just trying to make you feel better about taking the time to go off travelling but I don't think I'll have to try hard. Hopefully the weather is really nice and warm. It has cleared up a bit this afternoon but it was very grey and dull for most of the morning. Anyway Lots of love & all the best for the new year Kate & Mark XX
Belated Reply! For some reason I've only just spotted this - Happy Christmas and Happy New Year to you both too! Not jealous of your Christmas dinner at all...we made do with noodles in Ho Chi Minh City whilst being sent pictures of everyone else's dinner with all the trimmings! Hope you're both well? Lots of love, Bryan x
Good to hear from you again Good to hear that you are still enjoying yourselves and getting to grips with the local games! I don't think there was quite such a large rubbish tip by the side of the Taj when it was built. Though I may be wrong. It is a relatively recent thing that builders tidy up when they have finished! Things are getting cooler here and we did have a fair bit of rain so enjoy the heat.
Best wishes to you both
Kate & Mark x
????????? I hope you are having fun and it looks so cool with all the animals I miss you both so much and has Brian proposed yet as I need a wedding to forward to going on next year pleaseeeee!!!!!!!!!
