Regarding Roma schools Hi Brett thanks for the article. I m Varun from India Recently I visited a School Western Europe, the condition is quite similar. Which part of the Slovakia did you visited. Can I get your emsem. I writing one research article regarding this.
My husband and I were in Cesky Krumlov 2 years ago and also loved it. It was part of our River Cruise. I hope to go back to the Czech Republic and visit places where my families are from as well. Bohemia is top on the list as is Detva (where my father's father was from). This is how I found your blog; by typing in Detva. I also have family roots in Fulda, Germany which is south east of Frankfurt; the Helts. Also on my father's side are the Schellings from outside of Prague. Because of time limitations I was unable to venture out to find the village.Thank you very much for posting the pictures of Detva. I found your information very helpful. And I "hear you" about the police and government officials. It is the same in Cuba where we have been holidaying for the last 15 years in winter. It is a "throw back" from the communist way of doing business. It is VERY maddening. As the Russians have been returning to Cuba (for whatever reason; there were 2 Russian war ships stationed in the Habana harbour when we left this April) we do not feel comfortable there. Our Cuban friends do NOT like them. It will be very hard on them.
Thank you once again. I will try to "come back" to see what you have posted next.

Oooh! Thanks for taking us along! I've read about the Eagle's Nest, but had never seen a photo--what a view! As a Nebraskan flatlander, I can't get my mind around it! The view from above and the tunnel add to my whole perception, and I appreciate it! Mom will love seeing it, too!
My Ancestral village/church We visited Ladomirova app 10 years ago, Unfortunately we couldn't get into the church. It was locked and the priest was away in Bratislava. We took videos of the graveyard showing many graves with our names LADOMERSZKY.
Thank you for visiting our blog! It was very easy to provide a positive picture of Furth im Wald because it was such an incredibly beautiful city with friendly people. My only regret was that we had only one evening there on our way toward Ludwigsburg. We will most certainly be stopping back through one day soon to see more and experience more of Furth!
really nice report! Hi
I am from Furth and just stumbled over your blog. Thank you very much for this report and the photos. It draws such a nice picture of our small bavarian town.
You should consider to visit us again since we have a new high-tech dragon now :-D

WOW!! Hi guys,
That was wonderful - I almost feel like I got to go, too!!! Thank you so much for sharing. We are looking forward to the party in June!!1 Have a safe journey home - what a year you two have had!! Jodi - and Randy, too!
Prajem ucitelom a detom v Brzotine vsetko najlepsie.
Happy Christmas Brett and Sylvia, we are, enjoying reading about your Eastern European experience! I remember the carp- it is also tradition in Poland! We look forward to more entries on your blog, Best Wishes for 2010
Thank you Once again, thank you for your travel blog. I enjoy it! Don't feel too badly about not being here for the snow storm. Our kids were all planning to come here today, but that was an impossibility. So, Christmas will be next weekend. I don't think December 25 is really Jesus' birthday anyway. You are in my prayers as you approach your wedding day. I'll be thinking about you two and waiting for picdtures.
Merry Christmas! Thanks to your grandmother, I got to enjoy this picture journey! Oh, it's OK that you missed our white-out Christmas. Solitude has it's price. It will take a while to dig out.
Brett, I loved this blog. It reminded me of the gypsy village we passed by the night before Janka's wedding and of her cousin who was going to teach in a gypsy school. Thanks!
Fun It looks like so much fun. I wish I could go back. It is hard to describe to people how beautiful it is over there. I hope your folks take the time to go and site see.
Thanks, I really enjoy.
