Maureen,
Your cousin Patricia's daughter Meredith and her family live in Akureyri on the north (central) coast of Iceland! My daughter Chris (whom you met in Madrid) was visiting Meredith the week before you arrived there. Too bad you weren't lucky enough to meet them -- like we did in Spain.
I'm totally enjoying your travels. Thanks for keeping us in the loop!
Terry
Norway, Iceland, Denmark,Potsdam You have certainly captured my attention again. I don't think I ever fully realized how beautiful Northern Europe is until now, after reading your blogs.
Your travels So good to catch up with you at last and relive vicariously our time in Norway and Sweden, especially Bergen. Hope you spent your anniversary somewhere special and celebrated in style. We are heading to China in October for three weeks and hope to see you before fall is over. I can't recall your return date, but we do miss having you in Pgh. This town is really "redding up" for the G-20 in Sept.

A most inviting country, Norway! Norway is one of the top places on my list. It seems more inviting than Russia. Beautiful pictures etc. This must be a highlight of your trip. Keep us informed. Most interesting.
Hi Maureen and Robert.
Nice blog you have here. It just caught my eye that in your pictures you say "church in Stockholm" while those churches actually are in Helsinki :) Stockholm in Sweden.
Otherwise keep up the good work!
Antti
Beautiful Norway The best scenery so far of the natural beauties on your travels. It must be totally breathtaking in person. This is another place high on my list of places to visit.
Am enjoying it all... Hello you two,
Yes, I'm enjoying it all - from a distance! You two are making me tired - but the photos are helping me to "travel with you".
We've been having a bit of an "adventure" ourselves - not quite so pleasant. On june 1, Seymour was told hi position was eliminated as of June 30 . After 11 yrs as IT Director in an Intermediate Unit, taking them from 1 server to 47 and getting a $1.6million to fiber-optic connect all 13 districts in Bucks county, he was shocked and deeply hurt. A new exec came in 18 months ago - and couldn't stand that Seymour's salary was so good (believe me , he earned it - on call 24/7.
Anyway, we are now among the unemployed - but thank God, I applied for SS in january! We had gone on a time-share vacation the last 2 wks on May to Sedona, AZ - one of our favorite places - and ALMOST bought a 2nd home to retire in. We have no credit card dept - our cars are paid for - our only big debt is the mortgage - so we are actually thinking of moving to AZ NOW. Why wait - that is, if Seymour can find a job?
So, we are "staging" our house to sell. It's emotionally and physically draining but we are making progress. Your travels keep me realizing how VERY lucky we are here in this country.
Be safe, have fun and keep the travelogues coming. On this end, I'll keep you posted.
Blessings and peace, Judy
Hmmm You seem to have the explanations undetr the pictures a bit messed up. These pictures are from Helsinki Finland, not from Sweden. Here the so-called "Central Railroad Sation, Stockholm" is actally the Helsinki Central Railway Station. "The Largest Bell in Swden" is in also Finland, not Sweden. The "church in Stockholm"(white) in fact is the Lutheran Cathedral in Helsinki, Finland. The red brick church is not in Sweden either, it's the Orthodox Churces' Cathedral in Helsinki, Finland.
white bridge caravan site very well run site safe and very clean staff and owners very helpful tolets showers very very clean they are cleaned about 4 times a day good to find a very clean site not that many around as clean and as safe as white bridge site
lupine Looks like Lupine to me- I would love to see such fields. I get sticker shock just reading your posts. What a long ferry ride. I was in shock when we paid $40 to take the ferry from Conn. to Long Island. many years ago. I am still getting over my double knee transplant- I should be hiking next summer.
Love,

extreme port-a-pottie?? We have one question--are the public bathrooms on wheels? We have enjoyed all of the breathtaking pictures and the history lessons are interesting! We hope that the two of you are doing well. It looks that way--now that you are out of Russia. Have fun. Keep sending us our favorite blogs.
take care---

Russia's wealth The Russians show of wealth is mostly in the churches and monuments, but the infrastructure is lacking! You have shown us the real Russia in pictures and words.
I am so jealous.. and now I know what I will do when I have retired some day far away in the future! :-) Sergiev Posad looks awesome! Do you know that we hav a customer there? I think, Lars went there once for an OLT installation. Have fun! Heinrich sends greetings also!
From England We just got home from a rugged day on the roads of Southern England complaining. Round abouts, narrow roads, heavy traffic! And the places they expect you to ride bicycles! Hell on wheels! But reading your blog we had to laugh, and it felt good.
Now we are anxious to read the rest of your story of Russia. Be safe!
Say it isn't so.... Oh no...we don't know if we can last 18 days without a blog!! The girls love to hear from you. The pictures are breathtaking (I want those flowers for my garden Bob!). Your detailed commentary is educational and entertaining. Please take care of yourself. Have fun!!
