Bill & Nancy's Travels
Nancy and I are both 69 years old, in reasonably good health, retired, and love to travel. It is the biggest consumer of our time, finances, and interests. We have visited about 70 different countries, some more thoroughly than others, and lived in Europe for 14 years. Our Son and his family live near Brisbane, Australia so we travel there a couple times a year providing yet another excuse to explore Australia and neighboring countries and countries along the way there. We were both born and raised in Wisconsin so we speak only English but know just a few words in German, French, and Spanish. We enjoyed a 40 year career in the U.S. Air Force which took us all over the U.S. and world and retired in 2012. We are not hikers but enjoy walks, both short and long, we are not foodies but enjoy good food and trying new foods. We don't spend a great deal of time in cities unless there is something really specific to see or do that interests us. We usually keep moving seeing a lot of country, sights, people, and local color. We travel by car, ship, plane, or bus depending where and how we want to visit somewhere. I would call our travel budget comfortable ... not extravagant nor cheap. We look for deals but don't accept inferior lodging, food or service. We currently live in Florida and have a mountain vacation home in Colorado. We generally travel alone, just the two of us, but do sometimes include other couples. We avoid large tours, big ships, and preplanned itineraries. We usually develop a timeline, a straw man agenda, study information about what we will seeing before we leave, and are flexible during our travel.
