"She says": We haven't posted for awhile, the trip from Edmonton to Winnipeg - there isn't much to see at this time of year. The leaves haven't started turning and most of the fields have been harvested, so it is kind of uneventful. But every time we go this way it makes me realize how vast our country is. There is so much land. How blessed we are with the rich soil and being able to grow so many different things. Sometimes I forget how thankful we should be with the peace in our country and the freedom to be able to explore it. Our trip has gone great so far...enjoyed being with our son, Jeff and Sonya and Kyle, Brandon, and Kayla in Edmonton. It was great seeing how they have grown. And it is ... read more

"She says": Our first two days of our trip it was cold and rainy on and off. We spent our first night at Safari River Adventure in Blue River, BC. Our friends, Clyde and Russ Critchlow own a fantastic river and jeep tour company right on the river. They let us camp there in the parking lot next to the house and plug our RV in. We enjoyed good company and we had a great visit with Clyde and Russ and Debbie. Thanks for the hospitality. We spent our 3rd night in Hinton, AB and it was still cold and rainy. There was even a snow warning.....by thankfully it didn't happen. But 4 degrees is way too cold. Last night we stayed at Betty Harwood's place in Spruce Grove, AB. She is a wonderful lady I ... read more

North America » United States » California » Bodega Bay March 19th 2015

I am sorry it has been two months since my last post. Even when you are on vacation life gets in the way.....we are in a beautiful spot on the ocean in Bodega Bay, California. We have been here since Tuesday, March 16th. It is a beautiful spot near the California coast. Jason, our son and his girlfriend Jenny are coming to meet us here on Friday for the weekend. Then we have to head towards home..... It has been an incredible trip...it is amazing how fast the months go by. The weather has been so great all the way from Mazatlan. The pictures I posted are a collection of the last month on Stone Island and our trip home so far. People always ask "what do you do all day?" Well....some days we just pick ... read more

Well, 2015.......where has the year gone. We have been here on Stone Island for 2 months as of the 4th of January. People ask us, "so what do you do all day?" Well, sometimes we can't even answer that as we just don't do anything, except Gerry fishes, or we read our books, go for a walk on the beach, or visit with our friends here in the RV park. Other days we go over to Barry and Sonja's and visit or grocery shop, or just walk around Mazatlan. These last two weeks Bob and Ilse have been here. It has been great being with them. We had Christmas with them at Barry's and also New Years Eve. Lots of laughing and of course some drinking and great conversations. Thanks Barry and Sonja for your hospitality ... read more

North America » Mexico » Sinaloa » Mazatlan December 2nd 2014

In two days it will be a whole month that we have been on the island. And on the 10th of December we have been away from home for two months. Sometime we have to pinch ourselves to see if it is all a dream. The weather has turned very pleasant and the bugs are less. Not altogether gone, but less. Most days we have a slight breeze, so it keeps the bugs away. They still come out between 5 and 6:30pm, so normally we just go inside for that time. Tonight we are going to BBQ the second fish that Gerry and Barry caught. It is called a Bonito. Never tasted it before and all the locals eat it, but it is a oily fish so we will see. Last Sunday we went in Barry's ... read more

Well we have been here two weeks. Sometimes it feels like we just got here and other times the days just run into each other. It is definitely a much slower pace than I am use to. Also there isn't a lot to do here on the island. When you are use to working everyday and then all of a sudden you are not, it takes a bit to get use to. Everyday the vegetable man comes with his veggies and fruit. Which is really great because they are always fresh. Bananas (which I never eat at home), but they taste delicious here, avocados which are so good. Also he comes with pears and apples also. Sometimes they are really good, other times not so.... We experienced our first set of cruise ships this last week. ... read more

North America » Mexico » Sinaloa » Mazatlan November 11th 2014

Well we have been here a week as of today. The weather is changing slightly, so it isn't as hot and the humidity is getting less. We have done quite a bit this week. We did some exploring to another part of the island. We went to a parade, we went over on the panga twice to Mazatlan, we shopped in the big stores (Sam's Club, Mega, Walmart) saw a schooner come into port. Did my laundry by hand and hung it out on a drying rack. Found lots of treasures on the beach. Went to a doctor (for Gerry...he has Montezuma's revenge ). The doctor checked him over and gave him a prescription for some antibiotics and the total including medication was 922 pecos, which is approximately $90 Canadian. If we were in the US ... read more

Well, we finally made it to Stone Island. and we will be here for 4 months. It is a true paradise but it was a real journey to get here. I left off on my last blog we were in Queen Valley, AZ. We had a great time there, but we got anxious to get on our way to Mexico. We went to some fun places in Arizona, like Tortilla Flats, and Goldfield Ghost Town. The desert is beautiful and we both really enjoyed it. We met Barry and Sonja in Phoenix, which is a huge city and we were glad to leave......and to be on our way to our destination. We picked up Barry and Sonja and then met three other couples at a place in Amado, AZ which is south of Tucson. We all ... read more

First off I want to say happy birthday to two special people. The first is our grandson, Jaden who lives in Cumming, Georgia. He is 11 today. Wish we could be with him. Big hugs from Nana and Papa. Secondly I want to send out another happy birthday to Pierce who I am not sure how old.....alot over 11 though. We send our love, Pierce and I hope you have a great day. The RV park we are in, Queen Valley RV Resort is very clean, but very much like a trailer park. Mostly park models and most of them are empty, until the people come back in the winter. It is comfortable here though as it is close to everywhere. Today we took another side trip and did the tourist thing. We went on this ... read more

Today we went on a great side trip to Tucson. It was so much fun as the last time we went on a trip like this was 20 years ago and we stayed for three months in Tucson. The first thing we noticed was "boy has it changed". We tried to find some of the places we remembered but just couldn't we figured at the end of the day we were on the wrong side of town...maybe when we leave Mexico we will come back. We took a drive to Camping World and bought some things for the RV. Then we went out to lunch. We were looking for a nice Mexican restaurant, and found this bistro on Broadway. The menu was confusing and we ended up ordering just a burger and fries and a bottle ... read more
