You probably travelled through Bari, where Mr. Pasquale Natuzzi (Antonisa) has his main factory and headquarters, and home. Trying to keep up with your whereabouts. Been passing on tidbits like the cat pee thing.

Cruises mixed reviews
We don't take many cruises but ours have always been fantastic and they provided more than enough information. Holland America and Royal Caribbean are ones we have used.

glad to hear from you
Happy to know that you are out of Turkey, but i don't imagine anywhere in europe is much safer than another. Love the wooden boat pics!

Ceiling decoration inside Topkapi Palace Museum

Spring time in Turkey
I love the details in the Topkapi palace with all of those incredible tiles everywhere and the jewel room (when I was there, a cradle and a throne of emeralds blew me away). How great to be there in spring for the flowers! I visited Turkey in the 90s when the US and European governments were warning not to go as a result of Kurdish bombings in Istanbul. However, it was fabulous--security had been stepped up, there were fewer tourists, I had a hostel dorm to myself, everyone was happy to see me, and there were no lines in the Topkapi Palace, one of my favorite places ever. You probably are more in danger of being hit by a car at home. Thanks for the Yeats!

Old Home Week
We just spent a month in Istanbul a few months ago. I know the area at the top of the funicular near the music shops well. We spent many a day in the tea shops around there and Istiklal. Sorry they are still having problems. We left the day of the first bombing and the recent one on Istiklal was near our apartment. Sounds like you are enjoying your stay. It is a nice place with friendly people. Make sure you get out to the Prince's Islands. We look forward to following along.

Thanks!
We were planning to go to the Prince's Islands tomorrow, now there's a terrorist threat to ports and public squares in effect, so we'll see...

Tips on things to do in Istanbul
Living vicariously through your blog. Darrell says to walk to the Pera Palace Hotel for an afternoon gin & tonic and if you're nice, they might show you Agatha Christie's room. A turkish bath is quite an experience; make sure to cool down before you leave the baths. Take a ferry across the Bosphorus to Asia. it's a nice crossing.

Thanks!
Unfortunately, we are staying away from the more ex-pat areas for now....so probably no Pera Palace Hotel....and a port warning today, so we may not get to the Prince's Island tomorrow....but otherwise, we having a great time!

Heading Out
You're still following us! We were in Turkey in 2012. Loved Istanbul and all its treasures. Hope you will see more of Turkey…perhaps get the chance to fly over Cappadocia in a balloon! We also just got back from our first cruise (Fort Lauderdale to Sydney, Australia) in February. Cruising is an acquired taste -- and we didn't acquire it. Not enough time in the ports. Glad you will have more time to explore Italy on land. Looking forward to your blogs. Best, Carol and Martin
