Yesterday we arrived in Buenos Aires at night. We took the slow boat from Colonia, in Uruguay. After embarking the ship together with our car, the trip took us three hours. On the way you get an extra hour back from the people who invented timezones. We had booked a nice appartment on internet in the afternoon. Surpricingly it was just around the corner where the boat landed. We checked in at Tucuman 900 and went up to the room. Now we are inhabiting a very large appartment (150m2) with kitchen and huge balcony for around $60 us a day!! We will spend a week here and relax. Besides relaxing however we have to plan the next leg of our journey, the road to Ushuaia down south. We have to clean the car, fix minor electrical ... read more

After the Galapagos Islands we went back to Rio de Janeiro to buy a car. We all ready applied for our CPF number in Soa Paulo one months before.

We flew from Sao Paulo to Galapagos with a stop over in Quito, Equador. It had been a long flight, since we had to fly over Lima in Peru. At the airport we took a taxi to the old city. The taxi driver wanted to make a quick buck so he had a meter that metered the distance instead of the peso's. Besides that he drove a very long way around town, so he could get more meters on his meter! But we knew it would cost only $10 instead of $22, so that's is what we paid after a some intimidation back and forth. The old city in Quito is very old and has beautiful buildings and narrow streets. We stayed at a nice hostel, were we could also book a tour to the Galapagos ... read more
