You're right! Yes, that's Jo. I'm not sure how she spells her last name, but you probably remember that she and her husband owned the little pub in Mountaaffe. She said she closed it after her husband died, but we were standing at the bar in this photo.

Mountaffe, aclare,Co.,Sligo. Hi Lynn and Tim, just back from the beautiful Mountaffe and thinking about you in Texas, yes its just as beautiful as ever and I think it would be a great idea if all the Taffees from the U.S.and worldwide would have a reunion in Sligo in say, 2013,what do you think? put out the question on the net and see whats the reaction, Kind regards to all. Alfie
Taff-to-Texas? I surely hope you are able to come to the Taff-Taffee-Taft and however else we may be spelled...reunion the end of June 2010 in San Saba Texas! with purposes of displayin' all your tales and Humor....& gorgeous Pictures..
Dreary Day here in Rainy Chattanooga ...has deffinately been enlightened in more ways than one as i read your tales.
I too am quite envious of the taaffeite ...ofcourse my favorite colors are hues of purple... :)
My name is Nancy King Vandergriff...my dad was a double taff from waldron ark....apparently the John Taffe from Meigs county had 2 wives(succession after death of 1st ) and both my dads parents (mom&dad) are decendents of John...from these 2 wives. DEFFINATELY DOUBLE FAMILY TIES THAT BIND there :)
I have a son that is doing some traveling now ...and is interested in his Irish roots ....wants to visit there ...or Australia next....(kids!..but the CASTLES are really intriguing to him... :) )
Italy... he chose last year and has some beautiful pictures from there...with a blog..
my husband and i would love to travel...but with finances...we can barely get to gatlinberg and back right now :) but we travel thru his eyes....and now i can thru ya'lls! Thank you so much for allowing me this priviledge and for taking the time to SHARE! ANY ole taff-thing i can do for you...just holler!
Taaffe's in Ireland I don't know how I stumbled on your blog, but am so happy. In Ireland (1995), while my husband was researching his roots, I stumbled across a toombstoon with the surname Taaffe in County Cork. This suprised me because I had always heard that the Taff's came from Whales. Our branch of the family will die with me, as there are no living males with the surname (that I know of). Did your husband's family get to Texas via GA?
Enjoyed your blog. We will return to Ireland in Aug. and would love to learn of a family connection.
Greetings from Mountaffe. Hi Lynnette and Tim,
Hope your all well. Thanks for your lovely comments on Mountaffe,
hope your coming back soon, for the benifit of all that read your page I was reared there and love the place, its beautiful.
Regards Alfie and Kitty.
You're family jewel :D hi umm my boyfriend and i were just reading you're journal because he's taaffe too, thomas taaffe from tyrone, in the north of ireland and we've been researching the family and you're page helped alot- may i ask were you got the Taaffeite stone and how much they typically cost because we're getting engaged soon and i'd really like to do what you did.
Home Hi, my name is annette.
John and Mary Forde are my parents and before ye ask, he does resemble a leprechaun!!!!!! So lovely to see my home in such a wonderful light. I live about 10 miles away and any chance I get I'm out visiting for the peace and quiet! the most special time of the year is in spring when the lambs are arriving. the first thing you hear when you cut the car engine is the gentle bleats of the new arrivals, nothing better than that!Ireland is a wonderful part of the world and I would advise Jackie Davis to get over here and see the place. Go to the cities but spend most of your time in the wonderful countryside, you'll meet a few charcacters.
INTERESTING LYNETTE, I AM REALLY ENJOYING READING ABOUT YOUR VENTURES. BEAUTIFUL COUNTRY AND LOVED THE STORY ABOUT THE STONE YOU NOW HAVE IN YOUR RING! IF I COULD TRAVEL, IRELAND WOULD BE NUMBER ONE ON MY LIST, ALWAYS WANTED TO GO. JACKIE
I'm a proud native of Texas, daughter of a mother with Cherokee-Potawotamie heritage and a father whose roots are not as well researched but are believed to be primarily British. And for the past seven years, I've been proud to be the wife of a man with ancestors from Ireland, Wales, and Scotland.
My husband and I recently made our second vacation trip to Ireland, and it's that experience that prompted us to start this journal. We wanted to share our photos and experiences with friends and family, and this seemed like a good way. So to all of you we know and love, and to any of you folks... full info
