Hello, Today we had an excursion to Frankfurt am Main, the "most international city in Germany, the largest financial centre on the continent, the historical city of coronations, the city of Goethe..." as stated by the Mayor Petra Roth. It takes about 20 min by regional train (and over 40 min by S-Bahn!) from Darmstadt to Frankfurt am Main. We walked around the downtown area for a couple of hours and ended the walking tour to the southern side of the river Main, to the "corner" of the local drink Apfelwein. Frankfurt's high-rise skyline is world-famous. Because Frankfurt is the financial center and the traffic hub in Europe, it is known for its skyline with big banking and financial towers and large train station and airport.
