Hi Everyone, Ok, so I'm really sorry I haven't written in forever!! Ever since I got back from Melbourne I have been crammed with exam after exam and report after report. I'm finally stress free for awhile until my final exams in late June. I went to Melbourne with 2 other girls from April 30 to May 5. I knew that Melbourne would be one city I would not want to leave without visiting. I didn't really know what to expect; you either like Sydney better or Melbourne. In my case, I loved both cities, but I really really loved Melbourne. Melbourne is, after all, the sports capital of Australia, so that could have definitely helped with my liking of the city. We did so many awesome things while we were down there, from touring the ... read more

As I wrote in the previous entry, this is my trip to Heron Island; the second half of my mid-semester break. This island was one of the most beautiful places I've ever been to! Day 1: On the same evening in which I returned from Fraser Island, I left for Heron Island that very night, about 4 hours later. At about 11:30pm on the night of April 13th, we were scheduled to depart Brisbane. However, due to 5 guys not thinking we were leaving the following day, we didn't get to leave until about 12:15am as we were waiting for the 5 guys to get on the bus. The bus was very full, about every seat was taking. It definitely was not the most comfortable of rides up to Gladstone. I'm sure everyone's legs were cramped ... read more

Hi Everyone! I just returned back to Brisbane from our mid-semester break last week. I was in Fraser Island from April 9th-13th and Heron Island from April 13th-18th. I'm was so exhausted, but it was so much fun. I have been so busy this past week as well with a couple big midterm exams then was at Stradebroke Island again this past weekend doing a research project with my group for my Marine Science class. So I have been extremely busy!! This entry will be about my adventures in Fraser Island and the next one will be Heron Island. Fraser Island, Day 1: On the morning of Thursday, April 9th, my alarm went off at about 5:30am. We had to be at the University by 7am. I left my apartment about 6:30am to catch the bus ... read more

I finally visited the great city of Sydney!! We were there for about a total of 5 days and did soooo much in those 5 days! Day 1, 3/26/09: Our flight to Sydney departed at 5:25am. So we all went out the night before and decided we would just not get any sleep and sleep on the plane. Not a good idea. We went out for a while on Wednesday evening and didn't get back until close to 2:30am and our cab was going to pick us up at 4am! I went back to my apt and just finished packing and didn't go to sleep fearing I wouldn't wake up. So 4am hits and I start taking my stuff downstairs hopefully meeting the 3 other girls down there that lived in a different room. I get ... read more

G'day from another awesome week in Australia! This past week has been a busy one, but definately fun, especially towards the end! As we all know St. Patricks Day was this past Tuesday the 17th and of course we want to go out and celebrate. The day is not big here in Aussieland, but is still celebrated somewhat. So we got into our green gear and went out to a bar called 'Down Under Bar', clever name right? It was absolutely packed and literally couldn't move! It was definitely a fun night, but will not compare to St. Patricks Day celebrations back in Dublin, Ireland two years ago. This past Thursday the 19th, I went on a field trip for the day to Brisbane Forest Park. This trip was with my BIOL2001 class or Australia's Terrestrial ... read more

I feel like I have written in forever!! I guess it's been a couple weeks since I've written a blog, sorry about that! Anyway, classes have begun here at Uni and I've had 2 full weeks of classes. They don't seem too bad, but I'll be a busy lady :). I've narrowed down my finalized classes for the semester. I'm taking 3 classes, one called Australia's Marine Environment, another Australia's Terrestrial Environment and my last class is Marine Science. Australia's Marine Environment seems to be a more laid back class as most the students are international. We are able to participate in 2 big field trips throughout the semester, one being next weekend! Next weekend I'm going to a place called Moreton Bay; it's about a couple hours north here of Brisbane. Moreton Bay is an ... read more

Hi everyone! I've been in Brisbane for about a week now and it's great! This place is beautiful, the city is so clean and nice! A couple days ago we went to this man made beach in the city, it was so cool! There's a normal pool and then right next to it there is a sand beach that looks over the city. So we just layed out on the beach most the day. This past Monday was our first day of orienation at Uni (that's what they call college here). We had a few intro sessions to go through, not the most exciting things. However, afterwords there was a BBQ outside at their pool which was nice. They called it a 'sausage sizzle'; it was pretty much hotdogs, but they don't call them hotdogs here. ... read more

I survived my 22hrs straight in a plane!! The plane ride from Los Angelos to Brisbane wasn't bad at all as I was expecting a 14 hour flight would be. I slept probably about 80% of the trip, which definitely helped! The flight attendents were all Aussie, so I already fell in love with the accent at 3am CDT. It was weird because they served us dinner pretty much like an hour after we took off from LA. I fell asleep for probably about 10 or 11 hours must have been and woke up and listend to some music, ate breakfast, and before I knew it the Captain came on and said we only had an hour and a half left until we landed in Brisbane! However, that wasn't the end of my journey. Although I'm ... read more
