Well at last dave and me are finally in Morocco. Unfortunately Mark and his father in law have had a hell of a trip, and are still not with us. Just after leaving Marquenterre Wednesday morning, his rear axle lost all of its oil, due to the filler plug going missing, so he had to be recovered while we carried on. But after several hours, and being dragged to two useless garages, Mark was taken home, where the next day he took it to his local garage to get it fixed. He made it back in to france the same day and drove through the night in an effort to catch us up, but while driving through spain his land rover snapped its fan belt and so, he was once again sitting on the back of ... read more

Well so far so good! After leaving work i was able to get to a local camping shop and replace the gas cannister i had for a full one and set off, the last one felt like there was a lot in it but i didn't want to risk it. I then arrived at the port bang on time only to find out the ferry was late anyway. But meet up with DK at the port entrance and found Chomp and his father in law parked up inside. Looking forward to testing out my kitchen properly, but i think tonight will be all about getting a good nights sleep, so pizza from the campsite hmmm.... pizza. OK so the story so far, my mileage is 35 miles, Chomp is on a different ferry from a different ... read more

When we arrived there was a slight drizzle, then once we began setting up camp the rain got heavier. But once the cover is off and the tent is unfolded, your pretty much done, as everything else was under cover or could be setup from inside the tent. When you arrive at the circuit, there's a road to your left just before the main gate which takes you round to the camping field. The information e-mail warned there would be no facilities, which i assumed meant there were no showers or shops, but in fact this meant the only thing in the field, were water taps and bins, being a bloke, this was not too much of an inconvenience. The next morning there was a fair bit of moisture in the air from the night of ... read more

This weekend David and I are at Brands Hatch race circuit for the truck racing. Though to be honest it's more a chance to road test the roof tents and the first test was a heavy down poor, which highlighted that Daves tents rain cover wasn't lashed properly at the front, but after the rain they were quickly adjusted. Deployment time is quite quick if you need to get in the dry but the additional room is a bit more fiderly but still possible as you are covered by the second half of the tent while attaching. Though it is better to have a second person to help, as like the cover, the first side is slotted in to the tent then a zip completes it, and the slot snags easy, so it helps to have ... read more

Well this time last year we were only talking about a trip to Morocco, now its a reality and the start line is getting closer!! Managed to pick up a set of roof bars for the truck last weekend so the Kanga roof tent could finally be fitted, now I've just got to wait for a chance to take it out for a dry run. Yesterday DK managed to pick himself up a canopy for his L200 so his list of mod's are almost complete as he already had roof bars for his tent, but it wasn't until this weekend we were able to fit them on the trucks. One thing we found on my setup was that because my truck is lifted, the ladder goes vertical, so I'm now on the look out for ... read more
