This was my 2. time in Hué. First time was with Bo on our long stretch north, this time I was there with Mikko, a Finnish guy, I met on the sleeper bus from Hanoi. The bus ride was horrible, but we had a blast talking to each other most of the trip, sonce it was almost impossible to get some sleep. We had decided to travel together and share a room in Hoi An, when we got there. We also ended up sharina doubble bunk bed in Hué Backpackers, because there were no more available beds, so instead they transferred the bed, that I had made reservations for, into a doubble bunk bed, which was interesting, but not a problem, since we had been "spooning" in the night bus all the way from Hanoi anyway. ... read more

Second time I was in Hanoi, I stayed at a hostel, it was my first hostel on my trip, and it was the first time, I wasn't sharing a room or travelling with someone, so that was something different. I had found a hostel online, and went directly there, when I arrieved from Ninh Binh. I had a minor food poisoning, so I didn't have much energy, so when I arrived at the hostel, I just felt like dying. A guy in the hostel, Jeremy, helped me get better, and the next day we went out to see a "jungle" in Hanoi, that he had been talking about. But before I went "jungle trekking" with him, met with Louise and Camilla, who arrived in Hanoi that day. It was really nice seeing Louise again, eventhough I ... read more

I went to Ninh Binh with Linda, whom I met in a homestay in Sapa. We found a hotelroom, where we bargained a lot for the price, but it was not worth it, not even at the price, we ended up paying, since it wasn't a nice room, the toilet door couldn't close, it smelled and the lady, wholived there, kept touching my face and shoulders, which was really weird. The next day we rented some bicycles and went to the "Tam Coc cave", where we enjoyed the amazing scenery from a boat. the landscape was quite similar to "Ha Long Bay", except fr the fact that there down here weould be rice on each side of the boat during the rainy season. But even without the green rice on both sides it was a beautiful ... read more

Bo and I had bought "hard sleeper" tickets to the train from Hanoi to Sapa and expected - and kind of hoped for the experience as well - wooden beds, which unfortunately wasn't the case. Instead we discovered, that the only difference between "hard" and "soft" sleeper was, that there were 6 people instead of 4 people in a room in a "hard sleeper" and the beds was a bit wider in the "soft sleeper". But the "hard sleeper" was nice and comfortable, so we were happy with our choise, eventhough we didn't get the wooden benches, that we had hoped for. In Sapa Bo and I chose to do two different trips, one of them was climbing "Mount Fan Si Pan", which I had planned on doing, even before I left Denmark, the other trip ... read more

I was in Hanoi twice, first time was with Bo. We saw all of the sights, that I wanted to see in a day, Hanoi isn't that big, or all of the sights, I wanted to see, was in - or close to - "the old quarter". Among other thingss, we saw the "Temple of litterature", "Saint Josephs Cathedral", the "Ho Chi Minh Museum", which is filled up with a lot of propaganda and I actually found it a bit funny, but interesting none the less to see, the Vietnamese interpretation of the war. Besides that we saw his mausoleum, "Hoan Kiem - Sword lake", the "Turthe tower" a small tower in the middle of "Sword lake". We also saw some pagodas: "Ngoc Son" on a island in "Sword lake", where there is a stuffed turtle, ... read more

On our way north from Hué to Hanoi, we took a sleeper bus, and that was definitely an experience. The light was shot of at 7 pm and and at 7 am, the bus driver woke the entire bus by playing some "Umtji umtji-music". When we arrived in Hanoi we found a place, where they could fix Bos Visa, and after that we went directly to Ha Long City. We chose to go to Ha Long City, because we didn't want anymore tourist tours, since the memory of the trip to the Mekong Delta still was very fresh. So instead we stayed one night in Ha Long City, and that was more than enough. There was absolutely nothing to see or do in the citry, except for waiting for a boat out in the bay. We ... read more

I ended up going to Hué twice. The first time, I was there, was with Bo on our quick way north, so we only had a few hours in the city. We chose to see the Citadel, a Mausoleum, "The tomb of Tu Duc", and then we went back and waited for our pick-up, so I quickly chose, that I had to come back to the city, because I didn't have enough time to explore all, that I wanted to see, not even the Citadel. The reason why we hurried so much was, that we got screwed at the busstation, when we arrived in Hué. They told us, that there were no more tickets, despite the fact, that they over the phone had assured us, that there still were tickets. So we had to buy new ... read more

We went to Da Nang, so that Bo could get a visa, which was why we extended our motorbikeride and therefore skipped Hoi An.He got 15 days on arrival and our embassy told os, that it would be possible to get one in Da Nang, which was why we went there. But that was unfortunately not true. So we boked a bus ticket north, in order to go to Hanoi as fast as possible. Da Nang was not a city on my list of places, that I wanted to see, and I'm not planning on going back there. It was quite boring, not beautiful at all, no soul and bad food, a lot of fishsoup, that smelled and tasted like rotten fish. We did however see a charm museum with a lot of beautiful sculptures from ... read more

We met the Easy riders, when we arrived in Da Lat and decided to go on a ride with them. First we planned on going to Nha Trang, but we soon exteded it first to Hoi An and then to Da Nang instead. This trip was some of the best money, I have ever spend. It was simply just a beautiful way of experiencing the country. I do not have any doubts why a lot of the guys, I met while travelling, bought a motorbike and drove throug Vietnam, and if I had been more experienced on a motorbike, I would probably have done the same. So that's what I'm planning on doing, when I return to Vietnam at some point. I don't think, it's actually possible to descibe the beauty of this country, not even my ... read more

I was in Da Lat twice, but not for long any of the times, and I didn't really get a good impression of the city either of the times. The first time, Bo and I arrived late in the afternoon after taking a sleeperbus from Ho Chi Minh, where I managed to get a cold from the aircon. At the busstation we met th Easy riders, who drove us to a hotel and explained about their trips, so we decided to go with them on motorbikes the next day. Er walked a bit around the town that evening, but it was late, when we arrived and almost dark when we alked around and also a bit cold, so it was hard to get a good impression of the city. We did however see the big lake, ... read more
