I love to travel but don't get to nearly enough. This blog is to document my future travels - starting with my Bucket List trip to Iceland with my BFF of 30+ years in October!

Better late than never, eh? Day 4. Our last full day in Iceland. It is clear, sunny and mild. A beautiful day and in stark contrast to the day before! We head out at 8am for a full day of touring. Today we are going to see more volcanoes and waterfalls and stop at the southernmost village in Iceland. First stop is Seljalandsfoss which is one of the most famous waterfalls in Iceland. You can actually walk behind it to take pictures. Unfortunately, we were unable to do that because it was still freezing and the path was iced over. It was still a beautiful site. Next up was another amazingly beautiful waterfall. Skogafoss drops 200 feet and the spray creates beautiful rainbows. There are stairs to take you to the top of the waterfall but ... read more

Hey folks - if you're checking in my travel blog it sure would be nice if you left a comment. Otherwise I can't tell who has stopped by. Come on, give me some blog love :) Sorry but holy hell what a day! Fabulous stops, sub freezing air, sideways blowing snow. Becky and I were saying we have gotten our money's worth on this trip! Northern lights, winter weather, milder but chilly evenings. The only things we've really missed are earthquakes and volcano eruptions - but hey - we still have a day and a half left!! So - Day 3. The Golden Circle. Today was about the best known natural, cultural and historic sites. We headed out to the west today. As we were boarding the bus it began to snow. And snow. Once we ... read more

Today was the first day of winter in Iceland. It felt like it. Even managed to see a few snowflakes at one point. But I'm all warmed up after a nice long shower and ready to tell you about today. Actually, I'm going to let the pictures do most of the talking today. We had a half day tour and half a day to do whatever we wanted. Tour was to the Blue Lagoon. After passing through miles and miles of lava fields and past mountains of lava, we arrived at our destination. Oh. My. Gosh. What an experience. It was surreal. The colors, the steam, the water, the clay mask. It was also interesting in that you have to put away your modesty because they have very strong rules about hygiene - bathing before you ... read more

Today was THE day. One of the longest days of my life. I am so exhausted and need to go to bed but I am just too excited to blog the day's happenings. Actually, I'm going back a day - I checked out of my scary motel in Danvers at noon and called for a cab to get out of there. Of course it was noon so I had to wait a bit. So Eli picks me up. Eli is an early 60s hippie type. Again, some fascinating conversation ensued,. Ya'll the dude was hitting on me. No joke. He told me I was beautiful, had a sweet sprint and actually groaned when I told him that yes, I was married. WTF??? Anyway. I was still exhausted from my Salem trekking the day before and all ... read more

Finally! I headed to Salem today. I love Salem. What a fun, interesting, educational day. I walked my feet off (12,998 steps according to my Garmin). It goes without saying that New England is beautiful in the fall. I love they way people decorate their homes with a combination of Halloween and Fall. I love to see the leaves falling. I love how the leaves flutter around your vehicle as you drive down the street. I love how you walk down streets of houses that look exactly like you think they would look and then all of the sudden you can see the harbor. But let's start at the beginning. I had the most fun taxi drivers today. Ed took me to Salem. Ed is a stereotypical Bostonian cab driver - accent included. He was awesome. ... read more

Since I had issues on Day 1 getting my pictures from camera to computer this is belated. Instead of "I will miss them" this is I am really, really missing them. I also just want to acknowledge my awesome hubby for supporting this trip. He could have said no and I might or might not have ended up doing it anyway - but he knows how much fun I have traveling with Becky - and it's been a long, Long, LONG time since I've had a real vacation (Florida notwithstanding ;). Anyway. Love them, miss them, Hubs and my fur babies.... read more

Well I would consider today a success. I learned some valuable lessons about the cabs around the North Shore. It's kind of interesting that Uber doesn't have a great name here. Plus if you find the right cab company the savings are minimal. They have also been having price surges on Uber. I'm sticking with the cabs. I made it to the Liberty Tree Mall to get a cable so I could upload pictures (really important), I also got some supplies like water and apples and such so I would stay away from the vending machines. If you missed my first post - I'm kinda in the boondocks. But oh golly are the boondocks beautiful with fall color. I can't wait to get some pictures tomorrow. I'm reposting the picture from this morning but taken with ... read more

So I delayed writing about my first day until I had a chance to sleep on it. Yeah. It was interesting. It started early on. My first experience with Terminal A at DFW. I am a Terminal C girl. Really, I don't think I've ever had the need to use one of the other terminals until recently. My flight to Denver last week left out of D. I like terminal D. It actually makes sense to me. Terminal A? Not so much. Now I know Jay and I are getting older but that place is just confusing. Enough so that the guys in curbside check knew the frazzled look once we finally got there. Did I mention we took the route that took us to the way far out parking before we got there? Yeah. Flight ... read more
