South America » Peru December 4th 2007

Hi everyone!! So much has been going on, but this entire entry is dedicated to my trip to Peru! My friend Claire and I had been planning our trip to Machu Picchu for almost 2 months, so we were really excited when the day finally came to leave. What a trip it turned out to be! Because we are not allowed to miss very much class at our university here (only 4 days in 3.5 months), we had to plan carefully over a long weekend. We arrived in Lima, Peru on Friday night and left immediately the next morning to fly to Cuzco. Saturday we spent the entire day in Cuzco where we had nothing planned besides exploring the city. Hi everyone!! I know it's been a while, the internet here has been really flakey so I've barely been able to go online. A lot has been going on but I will try and keep this short and sweet. A few weekends back my group took a weekend trip to the provence of Misiones, which is the northeastern most part of Argentina sticking up between Brazil and Uruguay. This trip was probably one of the best weekends of my life. We first took an overnight bus (16 hours!!) to the Jesuit mission ruins. This mission was started among the Guarani natives way back in the 17th century, and the ruins are still quite impressive. We then went to a ranch and had a delicious asado (Argentine bbq), with the best steak ever, and canoed on the ... read more
