It has been awhile since we sent an update. Last message was from Freiburg, one of our favorite spots. Liked it so well we stayed an extra day - 5 total. Bike about 33 km around the valley the last day and went to an organ concert that evening in the cathedral. Very pretty cathedral with pinkish/mauve sandstone walls. Different from the others we had seen. We left Freiburg and headed east across southern Germany to Fussen and Lake Foggensee - a beautiful lake with rolling hills to the north and steep mountains to the south. Spent one day bicycling by the lake and I also swam in the lake. Spent the second day taking the cable car up the mountain, doing some hiking and watching the hang gliders. City and country really merge in Germany. ... read more

We are back in Germany and on the last leg of our trip. Had a great 3 days in Lausanne just relaxing and biking along Lake Geneva. Weather great, but decided to move on to Germany. Easy to tell we are back in Germany because there are bicycles and bicycle paths everywhere. We are in Freiberg in soutwestern Germany just north of Basel, Switzerland and just a little souteast of Strasbourg, France. Small university town of about 200,000 in a beautiful valley surrounded by mountains and on the edge of the Black Forest. Weather is great - 90's in the day, but onlz about 35% humidity and in the 60's at night. This is probably not listed as one of the main tourist stops, but should be. On Sunday we biked about 24 kilometers through the ... read more

We had planned to stay in Provence area for several days, but heat unbearable in Avignon and surrounding area. In high 90^s during the day with humidity 80% or higher. Didnt cool down much at night and with no fan or air conditioning in the RV was unbearable. On Tuesday we drove to Grenoble and spent the afternoon finding a Mailbox, Etc to ship home some items. Grenoble is a prettz city surrounded by beautiful mountains. Temperature much better in the day, but we could only get overflow location in the campground so right in the sun and although cooler, there was not a breath of a breeze that night. That was one of the longest nights we have ever spent and with almost no sleep. Just too hot. Got up early yesterday and headed further ... read more

We have had trouble finding internet access, but finally have it so here is an update. I think our last posting was from Vinaros on the southern coast of Spain. We had a relaxing 3days there and then moved on to Barcelona. Campsite only fair, but location great across the road from the beach with an ocean view and only a couple of blocks from the train station. Had a wonderful meal in Mancou where campground located and headed into Barcelona the next day. Spent part of the dayat Camp Nou, probably the premiere soccer stadium in Spain - seats 100,000. Spent some time in there mega-store before moving on to see Sagrada Familia, the cathedral started in the late1800's by Antoni Gaudi and still not finished. Very different facade from other cathedrales with mix of ... read more

We are traveling along the Mediterranean coastline heading northeast toward Barcelona. We are in a campground in Vinaros, a small fishing (becoming tourist) area about half way between Valencia and Barcelona. The campground is very nice with large sites surrounded by hedges for privacy, a restaurant and snack bar, nice swimming pool, great bath facilities and a 10 minute walk from the beach. We will stay here a couple of days for our resort part of the trip. Also one of the most affordable campgrounds we have been in. Looks like there is a bike path along the beach that we will check out today. Must tell you about our last night in Mojocar. We had found a local restaurant bar that had a large screen TV so went there on our last night to see ... read more

The adventure continues. We made it to Madrid without any problems but spent over an hour finding a campground. Never found the one we were looking for - think no longer there due to new highway, but did find another. Spent a day in Madrid. Had a great meal which I will describe later, but underwhelmed with Madrid. Pretty dirty and somwhat blah with no greenery in many of the plazas. Also the city as is the rest of Spain seems to be under renovation so many torn up streets, barricades in some of the plazas, etc. so we didn´t see Madrid at its best. Also very hot so spent one day taking a walking tour of the historic sites and then headed south to Granada. Granada redeemed Spain for us. Beautiful clean city with lots ... read more

Tuesday afternoon we arrived in Spain entering from the northeast corner from France and stopping at Bilbao. Had some trouble finding the campground since Spain is under construction and new roads replaced what the GPS said. Finally found it on a high hill overlooking the ocean. Beautiful view. Immediately headed into town to see the Guggenheim Museum. For you super museum buffers, we will disappoint you. We primarily wanted to see the exterior of the building with its modernistic style and fish scale type covering. Quite a sight sitting on the river directly across from old world style buildings and numberous new blocky apartment buildings. It is an amazing structure. We didn´t go in since neither of us are too into modern art which is its forte. We walked along the river to the old town, ... read more

We have been at Mont St. Michel for 2 days and have really enjoyed it: This is the one place I have wanted to visit since in high school French and it has lived up to my expectations. Magnificent from near and far. Amazing engineering feat: We were not able to tour it the first day there since the Prime Minister of France was coming to kick off a major environmental project in the bay: Visited it yesterday and tour was great: We went bicycling in the countryside yesterday afternoon and got to cheer the runners completing a marathon that started at St. Michel and looped around to finish there: On our run we stopped to have some cidre bouche (non-alcoholic), a well advertised local product. No hint of apples in it. Tastes more like beer: ... read more

We arrived in Paris late afternoon Sunday and have been on the move ever since. We are staying in a great campground. It is in the suburb of Versailles. Great services including FREE hot water in the showers and dish washing areas, a swimming pool and community room with large screen TV for watching soccer games. Monday we took the train into the city to the Place de Concorde, spent most of the afternoon at the Louve and then walked down the Champs Elysse (sp?) to the Arc de Triomphe. On Tuesday we went to Notre Dame and then walked down the Blvds St. Michel and St. Germaine window shopping at the book stores and other shops. Bought roast chicken from a vendor and a bagette from a bakery and had lunch in the gardens at ... read more

Nothing new since yesterday's post, but have been trying to add some pictures for you to see. It is a slow, slow process so may not get many up today, but will try to add whenever we can. We are still at Megan's enjoying the visit and the full-size hot shower. The one in the RV is very small with limited water so this is a real treat! ... read more
