Better to spend the night!
Good effort in a single day! We went to Semuc Champey last month (Feb '11) and it's a pretty long drive on dirt road. WHY RUSH? We spent two nights in Semuc at El Portal, the hostel just across the bridge over the Cahabon. Cheap enough, decent food, but only 3 hours of electricity/day to charge whatever you need to charge. It looked like the Tres Marias hostel would also be a decent place to stay. And both looked more attractive than staying at one of the places in Lanquin.
