Miniature Wunderland Really enjoyed the videos. The World's Largest Model Railway was the drawcard but the planes landing & taking off at the miniature airport...mmm...pretty impressive!
The airport was a wow moment The airport was really a wow moment. Very impressive and a lot of details have been added to make it accurate. The planes take off speed is adjusted for their size, when the planes land, the last two three seconds when they break the planes shake, just like real planes can shake. When a plane has landed it taxies to a gate and stands there for quite a while until it taxies out and takes off again. The detailes on most of the displays were what made the place really impressive. /Ake
Paternoster Lift Extraordinary to see the same person going down the left side then returning up the right side without the lift stopping. What happens to his ride if someone presses the button to get on or off? Is he stuck mid-cycle?
There is no on and off button The paternoster lifts don't have any off and on button. They run a continuous loop and you get on and off while it is moving. We took one film where you can follow me on a ride. We didn't post it on TB but you can see it on Youtube. Probably "www dot youtube dot com" followed by "watch?v=peNqJA2S10c" will get you to it. If that doesn't work search for "Paternoster Lift, Hamburg Germany". It is one of top five videos. To ride a paternoster you need to be able to time your step when ou get into the elevator. If you are very slow or old or drunk you can get hurt. /Ake
Thank you I need to check out the various photo forums. I posted some pictures in them a few years ago but since then I just haven't had the time. Thank you for helping me out there and a big thanks to you for spending time on creating a community feel to TravelBlog. /Ake
An architectural question The paint job seems to be as odd as the structure. You would have to stand and study what was going on here for some time. Strange.
Probably lots of details hidden there There are probably lots of fun stuff to discover about that building if you take the time to explore it properly. /Ake
Cityscapes Once again, I've enjoyed your architecture photos. I would have assumed this was a childcare learning centre or primary school! Although there are elements of it that I like :)
Love and hate I guess it is a place you can develop a love and hate relationship to. As you said, there are elements that you can like about Rizzi happy house but I would get annoyed if I lived in it. It would be fun for a while but I would not be able to take it for more than a few months. /Ake
We are Emma Holmbro and Ake Dahllof. We live in Stockholm, Sweden.
We have travelled more or less regularly since the mid 1990-ies and it seems like the more we travel the more difficult it is to decide where to go next. Not because we are running out of places to visit but because we find more places we want to go to faster than we manage to travel to them.
Some of the things from our travel bucket list we have ticked off since we started this blog in 2006 are
