Incredible Journey
I think the title says it all. You guys are incredibly courageous and lucky to have made this happen. Great memories, it will be hard to return to the real little materialistic world now. Love, Aunt Judy

Response to RKM
I was not implying that the smuggling of the geckos was funny so much as the fact that it would make the front page headline of the newspaper. When you come from a country as crime-ridden as America, a front page article about geckos is definitely culture shock. P.S. - If you're going to call other people IGNORANT, you should at least learn how to spell it!

funny articles and headlines
hi, hope you are not as ingnorant as you seem. smuggling those geckos is NOT funny at all. hope you have fun with your travels, but please have another think about what you said!

I love the sunsets!
Give me a view of the sunset like that and I would be happy forever! Well, I guess it would take a little more than that, like world peace, but that would be a "must have". So happy you guys are liking it there!

Back to work again!!
So glad that you guys landed jobs. I know that you were very worried, but how quickly this presented itself and you two being together, even better. Well, we will be looking forward to your next blog and part 2 of your new life: working in a foreign country!! I know that you are busy getting readjusted, moving, working, etc., but we are here and will be looking forward to your next blog. Love to you both!!

I'm so happy you guys are doing well in NZ!! Congratulations on getting jobs at such a wonderful place, and at perfect timing (: Hope everything continues to go well for you. Love, Kerri

CONGRATULATIONS!
I am so excited to hear you both landed jobs finally. It sounds hectic packing and saying your good bye in 72hrs but friendships forged there last forever. Still deeply jealous of the year you're having so far. Thanks for the blogs and letting me live vicariously through your eyes. D

More beautiful pictures!!
Awesome pics!! Love the lakes, rivers, waterfalls, green, green grass, etc. I not a fan of LOTR, but pics are great. Hope that you guys get jobs really, really soon. You forgot to take pics of the food......maybe it wasn't that great this time. I continue to enjoy "traveling" with you.

Happy Anniversary!
Wow! you both did have a hard working week. The pictures were beautiful. Thanks! Hope you had success in job hunting. Just as hard here as well. We finally have some warm weather. I think NZ is beautiful. Was watching a show on it. When we were in Hawaii in November, we got to go to a cultural center that featured NZ. Nothing like your pictures though!!! Maybe someday I will visit there. Have fun and keep warm.

Not to worry - there is a SUN
Just when I begin to worry about you guys and getting depressed you go to a place like Tunnel Beach and snap photos of just how absolutely beautiful New Zealand is. Breathtaking photos - glad you had a great SUNNY day and shared them with everyone - you guys look great! The sheep are too cute!
16th January 2010

a totally wonderful story - agreed that Amy should write children's stories - what an imagination and use of words in the English language to explain smallest details. Hope there is work right around the corner for the two of you, and as far as Hungry, Haka, and Rebel they are about as adorable as anything I've ever seen.
16th January 2010

What an Imagination!
Hungry, I have thoroughly enjoyed this last blog. Thanks for the history on Rebel and Haka, I was anxiously awaiting their stories. Tell Amy she has already found her job and it is flexible. She should write short stories or children's books! That's for certain. Miss you all! D

Hey Jeremy, Still working on whispering those sheep nothings in her ear?

Sympathy Pains
Thanks Aunt Judy...we have plenty of regular "pasta" here (though it is quite expensive)...but nothing comparable to mac n' cheese. I've tried their versions of it, to no avail. It's just not the same. Sigh. Pasta addiction is an affliction, isn't it? Should've gone to Italy...
6th January 2010

Gorgeous Pics!!
Wow!! NZ is everything you hear about it. Beautiful places, mountains-----love the lakes, streams.....all water included!! You are a great picture taker Amy; we enjoy them so much, along with your stories. Thanks again for sharing. And yes, we would love to see the DVD you purchased. Put us on the list!! Love to you both.
5th January 2010

Please send the mac and cheese
Great photos, and I'm starting to feel sorry for your lack of pasta. I have the same affliction. Love, Judy

Your Blog is Awesome
Amy and Jeremy...we are travelling to Asia in three weeks and have been so impressed with your journals. This is the first time we will have been to Cambodia and Vietnam and have been following along with your trip and feel that we have received lots of great info and tips from you. Thank you! We have been to Thailand twice before and spent two months there last year and see that you are headed that way after your year in New Zealand. You will love it...Chiang Mai is so friendly and nice...make sure you ride the elephants there!!! We did a tour one time and loved it...complete with elephant riding/bamboo rafting down the river/oxcarting etc etc and it was great and the second time we were there we found out about a little farm with about six elephants so it was quite different and very nice going on our own with the handler out into the jungle. We also did cooking school, which was fabulous...but never did massage and think that we missed an opportunity there as it was a great place to get a massage so probably terrific to learn massage. We also did a zip line up north of Chiang Mai which was quite an experience for a couple of middle agers that were afraid of heights!!! Was a great experience and the scenery was phenomenal!! If you have the time, there is a temple called the White Temple which is in Chiang Ria, just north of Chiang Mai. It is really different and very unique and we thought that it was definately worth seeing. Also, if you do get up that way, the Palace that the Queen Mother lived in north of Chiang Rai is definately worth a visit. I am a flower freak and so just loved the gardens...it was equal to the Buchart Gardens in Victoria, British Columbia, Canada if you have ever heard of them. As for your comments about Singapore....I actually had gum with me (as I always do on planes because of the ear popping) and was in a bit of a panic trying to get rid of it in case I would be arrested for having gum!! haha. A beautiful city and so clean...we really enjoyed it! As for Australia? Yup...very expensive. We have been three times and it is pretty hard to take, especially after you have been to Asia and paid so much less for accomodation/meals/activities etc. that is so comparable...if not even nicer. I hope that New Zealand is good to you and you have a wonderful year there. We have not gotten there yet so we will be following along with you to see how your year goes. Thank you for all your great info on Cambodia and Vietnam...I almost feel like I was there with you. Safe travels. From Lynn and Murray in Alberta Canada
