Tonight we begin packing for our next road trip down the West Coast, after spending 5 nights in San Francisco. First impressions here I will admit weren't great, but we certainly warmed to the place. The iconic Cable Car was our day 1 initiation to the city, and we have used them daily ever since. For those who haven't been here San Fran is built upon 43 hills, and when I say hills I mean steeper than a roller coaster, making cable car trips a cheaper option than Disneyland. Not to mention they let you hold on to the exterior and ride on their side steps, whilst traffic zooms past your assss......their liability insurance would be pretty hefty I suspect. Fishermans Wharf is the place to be, from the myriad of seafood restaurants with their daily ... read more

After leaving the bright neon lights of Las Vegas, and the breathtaking Grand Canyon we really didn't think anything could top that on our trip, that was until we arrived just shy of Yosemite in a little picturesque town of Fish Camp, population 200. From sweltering 35 degree days in Los Angeles an Vegas, we arrived to minus 2 degrees and SNOW. It was just beautiful, indescribable, something our pictures just don't capture the true impact of. This morning we woke up to snow capped Sequoias, and our wooden deck all covered in several inches of snow.....with squirrel footprints everywhere. Our hosts at the B & B (Grant and Beth) are just truly wonderful, their home is sublime........we feel very privileged to be a guest and spoiled the way we have been. We will definitely come ... read more

Sadly our stay in Vegas comes to an end tomorrow, we have had such a fab time here, all walks of life - everything from the destitute an homeless, to THE most opulent shops an hotels. It really is a wonderful place to visit. Yesterday Adam finally received his Birthday present I organised back in April from World Class Driving, a Muscle Car and an Exotic Car experience. Seven cars over 8 hours, was truly memorable for both of us. For Adam, the thrill of driving some of his favourites at ridiculously high speeds.......for Me, wanting too avoid pooing my pants whilst fish-taling in the Shelby that Adam decided to open up in Boulder City. He admits to have a new found respect for the sports cars, with the Ferrari being his pick from the entire ... read more

An early start to retrieve our $20 Cirque Du Soleil tickets, which was on the proviso we attended a quick 'Timeshare' presentation. 2.5 painstaking hours later we received our gift, the nosebleed section......upon confirming with the Aria we received an upgrade to front row as the Concierge understood our pain. SCORE ! Our walk along the strip today consisted of the northern end, starting with Caesars Palace - the statues were amazing, it was very difficult not to notice "David", Adam made sure he got a close up of that.......funnily enough the older women were the worst all standing around giggling over it. You see one giant stone penis, you've seen them all. We then headed to the Mirage and its "Secret Garden" exhibit founded by Siegfried & Roy, up close and personal with several large ... read more

Day 2 on the Vegas Strip pounding the pavement, so much to see so little time. Karly and I have seen the Titanic display which was amazing to say the least, all the artifacts from the deep on display including a 15 tonne section of the ship. Karly and I got our boarding pass-3rd class passengers we were, at the end of your tour you check your boarding pass against the passenger manifest, needless to say Karly and I went down with the ship. Cameras banned in the display which was a shame. We also went to the Mandalay Bay which has an amazing aquatic display, to think this is a part of the hotel. Sharks, Rays, Crocs and even a PiraƱa display. After that a quick walk to the Tropicana followed by the MGM which ... read more

Where do we begin......... Visited Universal Studios yesterday and all we can say is WOW !!! Theme Parks over here are just massive, they really know their stuff. We highly recommend doing the VIP Experience with them, bit pricey but so SO worth it. From the time you arrive your thrust into a completely different world, from a lavish breakfast and lunch, personal tour guide and NO waiting on any rides.......you walk straight past the hundred people queuing (for an hour) and taken straight away into a special area and put onto a ride ahead of everyone. Your taken into the sound stages/backlot into restricted areas that the general public can't access - it's a true experience and worth every penny. From original Back to the Future sets, War of the Worlds (Tom Cruise), Dirty Harry, ... read more

On Friday we began our morning at Madame Tussaud's, every A list celebrity known to man - highlight for both of us was donning a red hoodie and mounting a BMX helping E.T. find his way home. We have given Maccas a try over here for breakfast too, very different to home - the bacon an egg 'McGriddle' actually replaces the English muffin with 2 small oatmeal pancakes, it sounds disgusting (I know) but it was absolutely beautiful.... read more

Another jam packed day for us, where do I begin.... Started off the day at Mel's Diner, an American icon, with decor from the 50-60's with jukeboxes and booth seating right in the heart of Hollywood. A popular spot for celebs with their pictures plastered over the walls, used in film clips, but probably the most prominent the front facade of the Sunset Boulevard store was actually used in Happy Days. We then visited the Hollywood Museum.....all I can say is WOW, what a fantastic place with 3 floors of celebrity memorabilia, personal items and film props. They house the biggest Marilyn Monroe collection which I was totally in awe of. The pics don't do it justice, but needless to say it had everything from Dorothy's "ruby red" shoes from Wizard of Oz, to Hannibal Lecters ... read more

Arrived safe and sound in LA after an exhausting 13 hour flight, couldn't believe the size of LAX with over 145 terminals - makes Melbourne an Sydney look like Birdsville.Decided to eat a cup of concrete an tackle a full day of sightseeing instead of going for a nap in the hotel, consequently backing up over 30 hours 'awake' time - making the running of the gauntlet (Hollywood) interesting to say the least. Needless to say Day 2 (today) has really been our first true sightseeing outing.... read more

The 'packing' saga continues. After having a conversation with my sister today I have realised that 15 black tshirts no matter what style, shape, fabric is a little excessive in my luggage. Along with 3 winter coats, 6 cardigans, 3 pairs of jeans, and 4 pairs of black shorts. Think luggage culling will commence this evening, otherwise I will be paying excess luggage on my way TOO a destination, rather than on the way home.... read more
