Rotterdam. One of the newest cities in The Netherlands. Why so? Well, because the heart of Rotterdam was almost completely destroyed by the Luftwaffe; 900 civilians were killed and 80,000 made homeless. The City Hall survived the bombing. Ossip Zadkine later strikingly captured the event with his statue Stad zonder hart ('City without a heart'). The statue stands near the Leuvehaven, not far from the Erasmusbrug in the centre of the city, on the north shore of the river Nieuwe Maas. Rotterdam was gradually rebuilt from the 1950s through the 1970s. It remained quite windy and open until the city councils from the 1980s on began developing an active architectural policy. Daring and new styles of apartments, office buildings and recreation facilities resulted in a more 'livable' city center with a new skyline.... read more

Hello everyone. Lazy Adina is back with a story from the controversial Amsterdam. Unfortunately, I was there only for one day, on one of the last days of December AND a sunny one! Maybe that trip wouldn't have taken place without the help of my good friend Laura and her husband, Jakub. So one sunny afternoon we headed for the highway and in about 2 hours we were there. We parked near Van Gogh Museum, as it was the easiest way to find again the car :) Little did we know that the city is quite small (that means we went up and down the streets only on foot). At a first glance, seemed clean and well taken care of. I must say it looked very well organised and it was quite hard to get ... read more

Hello again. Today I've decided to add more flavour to this blog...and to make it in a special way, since it's the first one for 2008. Some weeks ago (back in 2007) I had the opportunity of travelling in some other cities from Belgium. I have to shamefully admit that before landing in Brussels, the only other city I knew was Antwerp, but I wasn't sure what for. Now, having the chance to see some more around, I also grabbed my camera and wondered as much as possible. Because it's been such a long time since I traveled, I hope you'll excuse me for the random order of thoughts and photos..will you? will you? Well, first I will explain what's up: I've become extremely lazy in writing since this crazy thing called "facebook" came around...hmmm..and ... read more

Hallo! Here I am again...another story in a country I see for the first time. And funnily enough, it was during the Carnival. There are not so many things to mention, as the trip was kind of short in order to make a full impression. But what I can say was....well, Koln is quite easy to deal with. Even if I don't speak any German, it was easy to understand the maps and locations. The trains & trams are always on time and very clean. The city was quite clean considering the fact that it was carnival. It was so lovely to see everyone smiling, dancing, being friendly with people they didn't even know! Music was everywhere, but...what music?! HORRIBLE! I'm sorry if I'm offending anyone, but that music was so strange..honestly, I didn't like ... read more

Well..it's time for a new story, from new travels. For some wonderful reason, we had 2 days free and so I got 4 days holiday..so Andreea and I decided to visit some cities around Belgium, to get to know better the culture and the environment. First city on the list was randomly chosen as Oostende, a small town near the North Sea. The weather was acceptable and we were eager to see one of Belgium's edges. It appeard quite nice, I must say. We took some bikes from a free renting place and we went around. The city center looks more or less like the other cities from Belgium, but the parks always have something special. Here the pictures are speaking for themselves :) Enjoy!... read more

Wow..if you would have asked me last year what will happen now..I wouldn't have been able to tell you. It's just unbelieavable! Belgium it's already old to me..so..heh...let's chat a little about Paris. It was sunny, over 20 degrees (too bad I didn't take any t-shirt) green and vivid. Started wondering with the garden of Louvre Museum (open to the public, being continued by a huge green park) and it's surroundings. At the same time, could see that the city was preparing for "La Nuit Blanche" everywhere. (maybe you know that this event is meant to keep the whole city dancing and partying all night and it happened everywhere around the world, on different dates: the last was Paris). Somewhere after noon entered the museum. WOW and WOW! It's absolutely huge! I felt like entering ... read more

Well, sorry for the very short explanation of my first blog from Brussels, but I did it under the high pressure of my friends who were so eager to see some photos and hear some impressions. Well, I didn't have enough time to express all I felt and still feel since I set foot in this country. Now..after 2 weeks..my third weekend..I started to get used to the fast movement of these people, to the different languages I hear every day passing near my ear (2 days ago in the market next to my house were 2 kids talking very loud in Brazilian Portuguese..and when I went out, was a couple from Peru chatting about daily life). It's amazing how this mixture of cultures and languages blends so well with the cosmopolitan aspect of the ... read more

Heeeeeeeeeeeeeeee....finally in Brussels/ Bruxelles, Belgium! After 2 months of interior stress and love missing..I'm here. My travel started on Friday 14th of September 2007 from Baneasa Airport. The flight took about 3 hours and it was quite bumpy :P We were about 100 people inside, lots of Romanians..and me between a guy and a girl..we were chatting the whole way, it was fun! I arrived in Charleroi Airport at 6 pm (Brussels time) and some friends picked me up by car (Giovanni - VP Finance @ ICHEC and Jean-Christophe VP Talent Management @ ICHEC with Julieth, my TN Manager, a colombian girl). At home it was nice. I have the biggest room that has 2 huge windows, the smallest bed ever (I almost fell first time), a table & chair and it's clean! Besides the ... read more

Shortly after I posted the entry about the natural beauty of this city, I gathered some pics about recent events. Maybe they are not so big or important, but enough to get one out of an absent state of mind. 1) There was the International Folk Festival - Carpati , August '07 and amazingly were present traditional groups from Bulgaria, Latvia, France, Italy and some locals. It was interesting to see them in such outfits (as seen in the pics). 2) One day in the EuroMall was some children activity with bubbles - it was so nice that it made me remember my childhood songs..emotional at the same time.. 3) What was I saying about meeting old friends? Last week me and my cousin saw Vincent Jacques, whom I met 2 years ago in an ... read more

Since recently I "celebrated" 1 month since I arrived back home, I decided to give a chance to this old place, to get famous among my old friends. Unfortunately, during the summer is not such a good time to visit, because most of the people are in holiday (away to the mountains or seaside), the students are in their home towns and the city center is under construction for some time now....During these 4 weeks spent here almost day by day, I decided to find the beauty hidden in the most unusual places of my home town. I took some pictures here and there and here it is...hehehe.. So, I present you the city (sorry for the dirt, it's under construction nowadays), the river and the new Mall, the huge forest and some streets...these are ... read more
