Today was my third workday but the very first one where I actually did the cleaning all by myself! Of course, I got less rooms than the others who are here for nearly a month now and they are really good: they get 11-14 rooms a day. I got 6 today and even though I finished before 15.30, around 13.30 there were some problems… But not huge problems. I had a room where I just needed to make some order as the guests are still there. This means that if the bathroom is filthy I clean it, I make the bed, empty the ashtrays, change the towels and change the bag in the toilet bin. By the way, I don’t know how many of you are aware but Greeks don’t put the toilet paper in the ... read more

I’m not gonna write on a daily basis – I promise. But at the beginning it is so much easier to write everything out. Yesterday when I arrived I felt a bit lost but I must have been really tired. Today I woke up with a positive mindset although I was thinking really hard how to get a pet to my room. I mean a pet I choose (not like the mentioned but never-seen-yet-centipedes). It would mean company and I would really don’t mind that we don’t speak the same language – here I gave up my goal to improve my Italian or English. Slovakian and Greeks seems like an option. Greek seems a lot more essential every day… Regarding the morning wake up today, I thought that the manager said when I wake up, I’ll ... read more

Here I am writing from the island of Kephalonia, from it’s sleepy town, Skala and from the obviously existing and as beautiful as on the pictures: Port Skala Hotel Village. I report that I have arrived safely, I’m alive and I can hear the sea rumbling – so that must be real as well. The journey itself was unbearable. For real. Okay, it may be the weariness talking right now, although I’ve been amongst the luckiest on the coach: no one sat beside me, I sat totally alone. You may think „how awesome is that!” – but do not. It makes sleeping even harder as you think you have more space to stretch over – but it is never enough. So the longest period of time slept through was 1,5 hours and that was the maximum ... read more

How to survive for a few months abroad alone? It’s early to say I've survived it but I already have my plan and some habits to help me cope with situations. Of course this is not a big, real survival: I have a fridge and chocolate and some people who claim to be talking to me in Hungarian. For free. I don’t want to exaggerate the situation and state that I’m the only lonely traveler int he world… I’m not even in danger – although I could argue with that as it is just a matter of viewing it from different angles… My mind is not that disturbed yet and there’s nothing endangering my physical well-being directly. Still, the start was difficult and it still is but as I got used to things, here are some ... read more

NOTE: These entries (trips of Greece and Italy) have been written in 2011 and 2012 in Hungarian, therefore I’m keeping the Hungarian version below (after the English) for the sake of my relatives and friends. The English version is more to the point by the way. I hope you’ll enjoy it! Dear Family, Friends and Lost Strangers, As all of you know it already, I’ll be in Greece this summer so I promised everyone to upload a bunch of pictures and share loads of stories. I did the maths and I decided not to start writing individual emails every single day after a tiring day. And those who know me for a longer time know what kind of person I am… Yeah, a bit lazy. If you only compare the hours spent awake with the hours ... read more
