It was one of those days when nothing could go right. We had to change our hotels (already pre-planned) & checked into Claremont, not far from Albert Court. But the hotel sucked. To be frank, sucked will be a better word for it. Rooms were not clean, toilets were broken, service was pathetic, TV refused to work and loads of other things. Anyhow, we just had to stay the night. Thank God for that!!!!! In short the entire day was wasted - thanks to Claremont. I pity the staff, working there. But the good part came in the evening - RACE DAY - the big event. I was all prepared with my batteries, water, snacks - everything. Since a lot of crowd was expected, so we reached our destination quite early. Plus I wanted to see ... read more

The name says it all!!!! We took a cable car ride from Mount Faber towards Sentosa Island. There are other means to go to Sentosa - car, ferry, cable car. We chose the third option!!! After a short and exhilarating ride - we finally reached Sentosa. We had taken tickets for the various rides at Mount Faber itself. These varied from the Luge to the Dolphin Lagoon to the Underwater Oceanarium and many other rides. Our first ride was the Luge. Now everyone knows Karting. Luge is similar to karting only difference being it is a downhill ride with no wheels or engines. All one has to do is steer. Acceleration and braking is done by the forward and backward movement of the steering control. Sounds simple!!! Of course it is - unless you are afraid ... read more

Friday was the start of the Formula 1 weekend. It was also the day, we had small tour. Our guide was Jean Quinton, French by citizenship, but staying in Singapore for the past 17 years. After the complimentary breakfast, we left for the tour around 1030AM. Unlike the day before, today it was drizzling - typical Singapore weather. One moment it rains and another it’s sunny. towards the evening it became very humid . Quinton took us to Chinatown, Mount Faber & finally left us at Orchard Road. In Chinatown, we went to the oldest Chinese Temple in Singapore. And we also got to see the back alleys of Singapore. One of my most overused words - IMPRESSIVE . Totally clean & no bad odor - a characteristic not found in India. I think we would ... read more

I set off from New Delhi (India) for Singapore on 24th September 08. The flight was enjoyable - naturally when you are flying in one of the world's best airlines SINGAPORE AIRLINES. We reached Singapore on the 25th around 745AM. Getting the luggage was an easy task. There was a lady waiting for us to pick & drop us at our hotel in Little India - Albert Court. I was thoroughly impressed by the Changi Airport, although I got to see only Terminal 3. Pity when there are 3 more terminals there & another currently under construction. The ride to the hotel was a relatively short one, I think it was the morning time that is why no traffic!!!! Few of the roads were blocked due to the inaugural night F1 race but no issues with ... read more

Our third day began at a very slow pace. We finally got up at 11AM. Though it’s our normal time of waking up back in India, but considering the times we were getting up here in KL, 11AM was late!! We had an option of going up the Petronas Towers, but decided against it. Partly because, we had shopping to do & partly - something should be left for next time. Before I continue, let me warn you all beforehand, nothing spectacular happened on our third & final day in KL. Our check-time at the hotel was 12PM, after which we kept our luggage at the hotel concierge we went to MidValley Mega Mall. As usual, we boarded the train to KL Sentral & then changed trains to MidValley. The sole reason of shopping at ... read more

I got up at 6:30AM, though still wanting to sleep, but on the other hand not wanting to miss the Petronas bus to the circuit at 8:30AM. For those of you wondering it takes me 2hrs to get ready , allow me to clarify. The alarm was set for 6:30AM; by the time I finally got up it was 7AM. Arunav wanted to be woken up by 7:20AM. By the time we left our hotel room for the Lounge for our Breakfast it was 8AM. After a quick breakfast, we went to the entrance of the Petronas Twin Towers, our drop-off point for the previous day. Our legs were damn tired, since we barely rested. I guess only around 5hrs ... read more
