So today after school, Ellie and I focused on planning for our travel at the end of our time here. The hostels we were looking at were like...$15/night, which is CHEAP (and as Ellie pointed out--a bed and a shower), BUT we're looking at Eurail passes and trying to figure out our itinerary. It's sooo frustrating! There's no "one country" pass for Germany, so it looks like we'll be buying a two country pass (the cheapest is Germany-Benelux which is Belgium, the Netherlands and Luxemburg). I've been told I also need to visit Luxemburg. I found a hostel in Erfurt (one of our "must go" stops right here in Thuringia) for 13 euro for a 4 bedroom place...But it would only be Ellie and I, unless some of you yay-whos from back home are interested in ... read more

This morning, we had breakfast together, as usual. I had my first soft boiled egg, and I really liked it. It reminded me of taking a fried egg sunny side up. When I looked out the window, it was 10 degrees and raining! BRRR! But I'm sure we'll be getting some warm weather coming our way soon. After breakfast, everybody cleaned up a little. Just a precaution: this is not complete, and you should feel free to alter it in anyway you see fit. 3 pair of pants/jeans (Seriously: bring jeans. Everybody wears them here. Just a few more, I promise. We took a train to Leipzig, and I was really impressed. They were clean, and I felt relatively safe. We spent about 4 hours on trains one way, and we had a nice view the whole time. I saw a lot of the country side and a few towns on the way.... read more
