AWPF Spain 2008

Wednesday, Aug. 6th- Well it was up early to play our 16u game. First day was against a team from Holland 2nd day we got to play a team from San Jose. After our game it was over to the world famous Leonard's for fresh baked Malasadas. They were delicious!!! Then we went to the airport to pick up Christina and then off to Kailua. Kailua is on the other side of the island and has some of the most beautiful beaches in the world. we laid our towels down in Lanikai and spent some time on the sand in the ocean. Sunday, July 6th- The Long Journey Home! Our day started off very very early. Everyone had to be in the hotel lobby with their stuff at 5:00am, Spain time which was 8pm Saturday evening CA time. It was then off to the 1st of four airports we would get to visit on the adventure home. We boarded our 1st airplane at the airport in Malaga and headed to Madrid. In Madrid we had to switch planes and go through a security screen where they asked all kinds of random questions. a few of us had to go to the whole other side of the airport because Savannah for some reason was checked in on the plane and they were having a bit of trouble figuring out why. Thursday, July 3rd- Sorry about the delay in the blog entries but the new hotel we are at in Malaga is really nice but the internet SUCKS!!!! Anyways, here is what has been going on with us out here in Espana. On Thursday morning we got up had our breakfast, wish our little hotel a fond farwell and then headed to the train station. We waitted for them to post which platform we were on and then once they did we raced off to the train and loaded as quickly as we could. July 1st- Well our morning started off just like the past couple up for an early breakfast then off to the pool for a practice. The girls got the opportunity to swim long course againand they loved it! After 45 minutes of going up and down the pool then it was onto water polo stuff. After crawling out of the poolafter a few hours we made our way back and were dropped off at the Plaza de Espana. Please see the pictures this is one incredible structure. Jenna's aunt is actually helping to restore the ceramic tile on the building. very impressive and beautiful. Sunday, June 29-(Continued) OH MAN!!!! Is really all I can say. We decided to watch the Euro Cup Futbol Championships here at the hotel. Some of the girls watched in one room and some others watched in the lobby with other hotel guest. There was a good mixture of Spain fans and German fans, it was fun to watch. After the Spain 1-0 vistory we decided to make our way to the main square and thats where all the craziness was going on!!! Please see the pictures it was crazy. People just kept coming and coming and coming. Of course having 16 American girls wearing Spain jersey we were like a side show at the celebration.
