O.K. I know, I know, I said I would do an update daily well, I guess that's not going to work. We did try to update a couple of nights ago. Ruth had it all written out and then we lost our internet connection and everything she had written. We were way too tired to rewrite so here we are today trying again. A lot has happened since our last entry, we decided it might be best to break up everything we need to say into individual topics so we won't have such a great big long one. We'll try to upload some photos too. These first few days here, we have been attending Evangelism Explosion Training. This is part of a big campaign that local churches are putting on as a means of reaching out ... read more

As I write this, we are somewhere in Romania but we're not actually sure where. We left our homes Tues. morning around 9:30 a.m. and arrived at our first night's lodging Wed. afternoon around 3:00 which is about 1:30 a.m. local time. Don't ask what day cause right now I'm not sure what day it is. I do know that it is about 8:00 a.m. now and 10:00 p.m. home time. We feel much better now with a little bit of sleep. Our sentences make more sense now and we are not quite so quick to laugh at things that really weren't all that funny. Our flights were all good. Traveling was very easy thanks to Uncle Matt. Uncle Matt & Brian (his grandson) actually pulled in right behind us at Sea-Tac when we were unloading ... read more

Wow, we have heard back from so many people. Thanks to so many of you for your encouragement and prayers! As I was working on a Bible Study this week, I ran across an old familiar verse. Isn't it great the way God speaks to us wherever we are in our lives! Here's the verse - Psalm 19:14 (I'm sure many of you know it by heart) May the words of my mouth and the meditations of my heart be pleasing in Your sight, O Lord, my Rock and my Redeemer! May this be true of us especially as we travel in Romania. Everyone has talked about how this will be a life changing experience, and you know what? We haven't even started traveling yet and I can feel God's blessings. It is so wonderful to ... read more

So, we only have 6 days to go! Can't quite believe it's almost here! I've been making lots of lists and doing lots of shopping. So many things to do and so little time. When we discovered this website for the Salt and Light Ministry, , we really started getting excited. This ministry is doing an Evangelism Campaign in Hunedoara and that is what we get to help with. Also, for those interested, here is the website for Broken Walls International, Inc. the ministry that helps many of the orphans in Romania. . We will get to visit the two families that we help support. Here, the orphans are placed in families so they learn how to share in the love and support of a family. It sure seems like a great way to help these ... read more

I Peter 4:11 If anyone speaks, he should do it as one speaking the very words of God. If anyone serves, he should do it with the strength God provides, so that in all things God may be praised through Jesus Christ. To Him be the glory and the power forever and ever, Amen. James 1:27 Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.... read more

So, you're probably wondering whatever made us decide to fly all the way across the world to Romania. Well, I'm sure there are going to be many times when we will repeat that question ourselves, but here is the general story. Earlier this year, my niece was inspired by someone in her church to do some mission work in Romania. Of course, she desired to have someone she knew well to go along with her and she, therefore, decided to talk my daughter into going along. As the plans progressed, we realized that the timing was not going to work out for us. Sooo..... I mentioned that I have an uncle who is involved in an orphan ministry over there and maybe we could work something out with him. My uncle seemed thrilled to have us ... read more
