Yeah, I took a plane from Managua to the Big Corn, about $100, and then ferried it to Bluefields. Wanted to save myself a 20hr bumpy busride, but still wanted to experience the 5hr ferry. (Never again will I complain about our ferries at home)
Small World!!! Hey Matt,
This is hilarious.....I was searching on the internet for info about Pedasi, Panama and ended up reading a blog. The blog mentioned Pedasi being full of friendly people, a failed attempt to get to the Isla, and the guy from New York who stayed there for 3 weeks because it was the exact opposite of new york. That sealed the deal....I had heard this story before, and I followed the link to your blog to confirm my suspicion.....it was you....the guy I had met on the Corn Islands. How crazy is that? So anyways, I have since checked out some more of your blogs and its cool to see pics and some stories of places I have already visited. Keep on having a blast and maybe I´ll see ya sometime in Vancouver or Washington. we should exchange emails.....maybe yours is on here somewhere?
Take care,
dave
Hi! You're going to be back soon! Wow - I can't believe that much time has passed already, and how much you've experienced since you left in January! I'm looking forward to seeing you! Love, Sis
Honduras -- cool! Hey man,
Sounds like you are having a good time. This travelling really does suit you. Honduras sounds great; I have known a few americans who have lived there, and/or own property, and I work with about 5 people from Honduras, who do exactly that: work, send money to their family and future brides. What do you mean by "invested" as far as money goes? I love you, have fun! Let me know when you know your return flight back; it's not for another month or so, but just the same. By the way, I know you're going to HATE it here when you get back. Just saying. *Kisses*! Your sister, K.
wow!! Ooopss!! got too excited there. I'm going to Nicaragua in July and i've always wanted to go to the Corn Islands....reading your entry was interesting and please be careful of any dodgy people over there yeah? anyways, thanks for the entry because they're giving me an insight and of what to expect and to look out for.
WOW!! I just read your journals, it's all very exciting really. meanwhile, what a huge pizza - wish we had pizzas like that in Australia. I just got back from Managua late January and went to San Juan del Sur - I cannot recommended it enough to anyone, it's a beautiful part of the world and the people are so friendly. Good luck on your journeys and take care.
My Bro! Dude, that is weird--two travelers also from Bellingham!! Hey guess what? Sarah Jo is getting married and wants us to scope out places that would be good to have a small wedding in Costa Rica! I'm going to be one of her two maids of honor! It's good to hear you are doing well; I love the pictures!
Hola! Bueno Matt!
Como estas? Soy asi, asi pero estoy muy feliz para tu. Te gusta Costa Rica mucho? Creo que querer ir a Costa Rica. So how is the Spanish bien o mal. If you don't know it already you will pick it up. I am so excited for you it sounds like you are having a great time. I loved going down to South America, it was nothing like I thought it would be. Good luck on the road and be safe! Cheers!
Looks Like Fun I've been trying to submit a comment for a while, but it has not worked.
Sorry to hear about the robbery. You've got to watch yourself Gringo! I think you should go to the San Blas Islands - I have heard very good things about them.
I am really enjoying your blog - keep it going.
Love You Lots,
Mom
Looks Good I like the photo of Cahuita Beach - I could use a good beach right now! We are still getting rained on and it's cold. I hope you are having fun!
Yo, what up?!?! Hey Matt! I hope you are having the time of your life down there. It's fun reading about your adventures. We all miss you!!

Travellin' Man! What's up, Matt! I'm so stoked for you going on this trip, I don't find it hard to understand, in fact, if I didn't have so many things tying me down right now I most certainly would do the very same thing. You have an adventurous spirit, my man, don't ever let anyone tell you you need to "settle down" or "get a real life"! Besides, what is a real life anyway except living to the fullest that you want to experience?
I'm really excited to meet you down there--I'm buying the tickets sometime next week, then it will be official--and brushing up on my spanish isn't as hard as I thought it would be!
It's cool that you put up a pic of Steve and I, and our airport mistake is forever immortalized on the web! God, I'm such a choad!
Love you man, be safe, be cool, be free, have fun, and don't contract any STD's. Hee hee. Just kidding, I'm sure they have condoms down there!
Love you! See you soon!
Congradualations! Hey Congrats! You’re doing it. I look forward to hearing you crazy stories so I'll know what to do and what not to do when I leave. I'm currently looking for jobs in Alaska and Costa Rica, and which ever turns up good first will probably be my start. I am graduating in March, Jes and I are still renting the dream space. And be sure to let me know any great places you find on your way down that I should be sure to check out. Are you traveling on the waterside of Mexico, or down the center? ON the east or the west coast? Well safe journey matt.
Amie
