Right then after around 12 hours on a bus from Siem Reap we found ourselves back in Bangkok and Thailand on the 2nd August and ready for a big night out there before meeting up with Jules, Ox and Nic (friends from oz) at Koh pha ngan (an island off the south east coast of Thailand). The night out in Bangkok was good from what i can remember of it, we started off at an Irish bar on koh san road and bumped into a bunch of Irish girls we had met earlier on our travels in south east Asia. We also brought in a bottle of whiskey with a couple of pretty cool Canadian guys we had met that night. After that is a complete mystery to me, all i know is that the next day i felt extremely fragile and spent all of it watching tele.
On the 4th we took a night bus/connecting boat from Bangkok to Koh pha ngan. The bus journey was pretty eventful, at one stage at around 3 in the morning we were all just dumped on the side of the road with our luggage without being told anything. After a couple hours
wait we were picked up by another bus and taken to the ferry port where we got the boat across to pha ngan. Once there we headed straight to our beach resort, Coco Gardens on Baan Tai beach and waited for our Aussie friends to arrive. They got there at about 3 in the afternoon and we immediately set the tone for the next 10 days or so by having a Chang beer at the bar. Later that evening we headed down the road to a bar called Cheeky Monkeys and continued the drinking and played a few games of pool. The next day (6th Aug) was spent relaxing on the beach and building ourselves up for the full moon party that night at Haad Rin. We headed down to Haad Rin beach at around 11 to join up with the 1000s of people already there and immediately got into the spirit of things by plastering ourselves in glow paint (i had a bright orange beard). We partied all night long, drinking several buckets (Samsung whiskey, red bull and coke) along the way. We ended up getting back to our resort at around 8 the next morning.
After a
day recovering we rented out mo-peds and went on a bit of a cruise around the island. We went to a waterfall which had no water and then went up to Chalaklum bay and spent a bit of time at the beach. After there we tried to make it up to the north east of the island, but didn't quite make it due to a couple of minor but rather expensive falls on a dirt track trying to get there. After that had happened we decided to head back to the resort. We took the bikes out again the next day and went back up to Chalaklum bay to enjoy the beach again. That night we went out, going back down to Haad rin where the buckets a couple of days after the full moon party were half the price, safe to say i took advantage of this and got a little drunk!!!!!! On the 10th aug we went back up to Chalaklum bay to play a little bit of mini golf, the four of us had a great time, enjoying a few beers and the general fun you can have on the mini golf course. Later that night we
went back to cheeky monkeys again playing a bit of pool and enjoying the general atmosphere of the bar. On the 13th Aug it was Ox and Jules's last day/night with us on Koh pha gnan. We spent most of the day time like most others just relaxing and then in the evening we went to a place called the Amsterdam bar for the sunset and to enjoy various other facilities that were on offer (feel free to guess, big clue in the name of the bar). After saying goodbye to the Aussies on the 14th me and barbs had one last night out going to the half moon party in the jungle. This was completely different to the full moon party as it was a lot smaller and more like a rave in pretty cool surroundings!!!
After another day of recovery and watching the first day of the footie season at a bar it was time for me and barbs to be on the move again and on the 16th Aug we headed back down to Kuala Lumpur where we were to catch a flight to Bali on the 18th. The boat/bus journey down to KL took around
20 hours and meant for a very relaxing day doing nothing in KL before moving on again.
Once we had landed in Bali we immediately bumped into a friend from England, Dave who was waiting for his girlfriend Kate to fly in from Aus. Because of this we all shared a taxi and headed to the main tourist/party area of Bali, Kuta beach. As soon as we arrived we checked ourselves into a guest house and pretty much went to bed as it was 11 at night. We spent one day here where we lay on the beach for most of it enjoying the searing heat and shock horror getting a little sun burnt. That night we met back up with Kate and Dave and enjoyed a few beers at various different bars in Kuta.
On the 20th Aug me and Barbs got on a shuttle bus and headed to Sanur because we had heard that it was a little more chilled out than Kuta and hoped we would be able to spend less there as we were running out of money fast. Sanur is a little further north than Kuta and on the east coast. Once we
arrived in Sanur we spent around an hour trying to find somewhere to stay getting extremely hot and bothered in the midday heat. Finally just as we were beginning to get a little annoyed we found a place which was a lot cheaper than everywhere else called Bintang Bungalows which had a swimming pool and the bungalow we were staying in had a tv with just about every cable channel imaginable, result. The next few days followed a very similar theme of going to the beach, wandering around all the cool market stalls and eating dinner at the night market having local indonesian food for 10000 rupeers, around 60p. On the 24th Aug we decided to have our last proper night out before returning home. We met back up with Dave and Kate (friends from england) who had arrived from elsewhere in Bali that day, brought a couple of bottles of whiskey and played drinking games at the Bungalows. At around 11 we headed out into Sanur and went to a couple of bars before ending up in a place right opposite to where we were staying. This place was pretty cool despite being the only ones in there. We
ended up having a few Bintang Beers and listening to Phil Collins until the early hours. Our last day in Sanur was the 26th Aug and again we spent the day on the beach. Before having to get a cab and spending a night at the airport we went to a bar and had a small bottle of a local Balinese spirit called Arrack which was actually quite nice and is made from coconut.
After a night at the airport we caught a plane back to Kuala Lumpur for the fourth time and arrived at around 10 in the morning. The next day we thought it was about time we had a little look around the city as we hadn't on the 3 previous visits. We had a walk around China town, went to the Menara sky tower and to the Petronas twin towers, all of which being pretty cool.
Tomorrow we get on another plane back to Brunei where we started our south east Asia adventure 3 months ago before returning home, back to sunny england a few days later!! Hope your all well and see you all very soon x

How's your liver?
You guys certainly know how to have a good time! Glad you made it to Bali - we didn't see Kutu Beach but did get to Sanur briefly. See you in October!
