Hello Everybody! After a good deal of prevarication on my part concerning the potential impact of tourism on the local indigenous hill tribes, Oli and I decided to go on one of the popular treks through the hills north of Chiang Mai. It was the three day 'non-touristy trek', guaranteed not to see any pale faced farangs other than the people on our trek (13 of us, all young). Meaning, no doubt... Read Full Entry

Loved it....
it being the photos and commentary. It snowed like a banshee today in Portland, simply magical. Never saw such BIG snowflakes. Sean spent the day out sledding-did the classic just come in and eat and go right back out. Eric and I skiied and enjoyed no cars on the roads. Got about 4-5 inches. It's stopped now and school is called off for tomorrow too cos of roads. Love your updates...good to hear you;re both cruisin' nicely. Happy trails to you..... xxoo Molly

Hello
Hello, the photos are completely awesome, the rich colors, the lush greenery, especially since all is white here, and we have had a spell of below zero weather, but it warming up a bit. One of the first photos, it is the 'camp' at sunrise, looks like an oil painting with the way the light filters through. This blog is a great idea, what a wonderful way to stay in touch and allow us to join you on this wonderful trek - much better then waiting until you get home and forgeting many details that you are able to record now. I loved the waterfalls, and the colors of the girl singer's clothing are stunning, the little boy with the before and after is great, what a smile! And Dorien on an elephant!..........enjoy yourself, stay safe, have fun, and thanks for staying in touch........loves ya, MOM XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

cool photos
Hey guys! Cool photos--i like the looks of the hilly country you are in--similar to north vietnam. How many miles did you hike and was beer always available? Dorien I emailed you with your GRE scores-did you get it? Still cold and wintery here and we still haven't decided where our vacation will be, next week! Oliver I'm thinking of buying the D200; need a back-up and it can always be used at the lodge. Have you posted a day 4 and beyond yet? love, dad
