Hi there
Yes there are many dogs -- they don't appear to be stray. But we saw a couple of stray kittens at our hotel today - 3 to be exact. As far as English goes, our guide speaks English very well -- and everyone else tries to communicate -- they speak English better than i speak Vietnamese for sure.

Hi guys
I have seen pancakes for breakfast -- but I usually eat some kind of egg (hard-boiled). Pho is the normal breakfast food around here -- can't say I've tried it -- but my Dad loves it (it's chicken or beef noodle soup). I tried crispy fried noodles today (they were OK). There were shrimp that were alive with a skewer through them the other night at dinner -- and their eyes were big and black - when I got close to them - they moved... and then I fried them. My favorite thing to do so far has been playing soccer with the kids at the school today. Yes there are animals: cats, dogs, pigs (living on a floating market house), roosters, water buffalos, white ducks, and tongue lungs (little house lizards who eat mosquitoes). My cousin Carly is 16 and her sister Abby is 14. they are a lot of fun. Thanks for writing -- please stay in touch.

Hey Dave! from Doug
Woof and woof to Miss and Meestah. You and Chen owe me two per side for all your practice. This trip is phenomenal. Never been so tired at the end of the day, but never have experienced such adventure. Judy and I are enjoying visiting the schools and witnessing all the scenes and sights of this incredible country. Doug

To Dave; From Larry and Sig
Hello, my good friend, Greetings from Vietnam! So mnay good things going on here tempered wilh some not so happy memories of things in the past. This country draws you in and captivates you. There are maby more westerners here than in the past. Many are of our age probably attempting to come to terms with things that happened in their past. We're really having fun with your friend, Doug. All the best, Larry and Sieglinde
