Da Nang is almost like a coastal Spanish resort. We felt Da Nang was cleaner than other places in Vietnam until we encountered at least 7 rats on our way home. You’re kidding yourself if you come to Vietnam expecting any level of hygiene, unless you’re forking out a lot of money on an isolated resort. Nethertheless, we stayed at Touch Homestay owned by the lovely ‘Jenny’ Chang and her family who really looked after us. After a day of getting painfully scorched in the 100% UV sun, we met up with Jamie and Emily who we’d previously met on the sleeper bus and had dinner/drinks with them. We’re all looking like lobsters; Vietnam sun 1, us English backpackers, 0! They’re great company which is fortunate as nice bars and restaurants are a rarity here. Mind, if you like seafood and shit meat sandwiches you’re absolutely spoilt for restaurants. We intend on seeing them again in Hoi An, our next stop.
There’s generally not much to see in Da Nang other than the Dragon Bridge and the marble mountains so we’re eager to move onto Hoi An tomorrow, which we’ve heard is more of a historical/cultural hotspot in Vietnam. But for tonight we’re treating ourselves to a 4 star hotel called Merry Land, celebrating our 3 years together. Happy Anniversary Deano ❤️
