So you can see from the first few pictures we were pretty excited/ tired to head to this little place Mui Ne which is now somewhere we will remember forever as it marks a special place for us.
We jumped on the orange bus from De Tham Street (Pham Ngu Lao area- lots of westerner's in this area not far from Sinh Cafe for anyone interested in travelling with a good, clean and reliable bus company. The name of the company is called Phuong Trang) that we had booked the day before for $4. We had our seats right up the front and we were the only non- vietnamese on the bus, therefore the only downfall was no one spoke engrish and we had to watch vietnamese dvd's...nothing the iPod couldn't fix.
The journey took 6 hours from Saigon to Mui Ne and we stopped about 3 times. The first 2 stops were toilet stops at places most people would be gobsmacked at going to the toilet, adam couldnt even use the toilets they were that grose. Me on the other hand I was busting so I had to brave it, I saw the ladies heading for the grass
and squatting. There is no way I could squat so I followed the men and they went to these little doors and down on the cement behing the doors were litte plastic baskets to obviously use as a toilet. The smell was vulgar but I still had to go, there were lots of chickens running around and out the front near the bus was a market full of fruit where everyone on the bus got bags of lichees.
We were in the country so I was assuming they were good quality. We found out last night from some people we met that they are only in season for one month of the year hence why they had bags of them. The bus now smelt like one big lichee!!
We arrived at a place where the Vietnamese indulged in dinner whilst Adam and I watched and were not game to eat at this side of the road place. I really wanted an icy pole from the freezer but I couldnt be sure if it was even an ice block so I skipped and opted for a bottle of water. From here there was only 1 hour left of the
trip till we got to Mui Ne.
Our bus so nicely dropped us right out the front of our hotel where it seemed that the only way to get off the bus was super quick and pretty much jump off whilst the bus is still moving. We arrived at the Blue Ocean Resort and were very happy with the look of the place, we could see that this was going to be a little bit of paradise.
Got to our room which we booked through Agoda and only cost us $70 per night at a 4 star resort, they call it 3 star but its definately more than that and would be considered 5 star in oz. We got to our room and very happy with our little bungalo type room, we got changed and decided to head to the beach to have a look which was only 20 steps away from our room. There are many bungalos on the beach for chilling out from what we could see and looked beautiful.
Well what happened next caught me totally off guard!!!!!!!!!!!! Here is the romantic part......Adam tuned to me and said you know that your my soul
mate and love you very much, I said yeah he then got down on one knee and asked IF I WOULD MARRY HIM.......WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO......I think I forgot to say yes I was that over whelmed and didn't know whether to laugh and cry or whether it was a joke. Adam on the odd occassion has been known to pretend about this and says 'well I think now is about a good time as any to ask'. I cried then laughed and for the rest of the night and still right now I cannot wipe the smile off my face.
It was about 9.30pm at night and I couldn't ring anyone to tell them so it was killing me not being able to do that and had to wait untill the morning. We did call the parents and they were very excited for us.
We have loved our stay here in Mui Ne with absolutely nothing to do but relax, this is exactly what we needed and yesterday just sat by the pool and baked all day long...just beautiful. I met a lady in the pool from melbourne and she invited us to happy hour down at the beach bar
The proposal
To the right of this is where Adam asked me to marry him.....very romantic!! with another couple as well. It was just perfect and we indulged in cocktails from 5.30 till about 10pm where we then called it a night. You can see from the pics how beautiful this place is and was very good value for money including a big buffet breakfast (tez you would love it).
Yesterday we booked our bus tickets to the next destination called Nha Trang. Nha Trang is well known for its pristine beaches and excellent scuba diving and is fast becoming a popular destination for international tourists, attracting large numbers of backpackers as well as more affluent travelers on the Southeast Asia circuit. It is already very popular with Vietnamese tourists. Nha Trang Bay is widely considered as amongst the world's most beautiful bays.
The bus from Mui Ne will take about 6 hours but this time we booked a sleeper bus..haha this is going to be interesting, beds on a bus?!?! we actually saw one in Saigon and they looked awesome as the seat reclines flat. My main concern is air conditioning and a toilet and it has both so will see what we get. Again this ticket only cost us $4 which is
just ridiculously cheap.
We have lots to see and do in Nha Trang and altough we are not booked into a flash resort we are staying in a 2 bedroom apartment that is run by an Aussie guy and has great reviews (also we can get access to facebook...I had no idea it was banned in Vietnam). We are planning to go to the water slide park and the theme park and possibly some snorkelling, that is if I am brave enough to swim with fish.
Adios xxxxxxx
