Hey there!

Our next leg of our SE Asia journey was Vietnam, after talking to a few other travellers we decided to cross the border by boat along the Mekong River as the trip is stunning and a very relaxed way to enter the country, we travelled back to Phnom Penh and booked our ticket to leave the next morning. The first hour and half was by air con bus to the ferry port where we caught he boat, the boat was long and made of wood and the only passengers were myself, Craig and two girls from Chilli, Anna and Bea who were really nice, it was great just the four of us as this made the journey more chilled out. Immigration was so easy all we did was jump off the boat and get our passports stamped and visas checked and then back on the boat.

The views from the boat were amazing with scenes of flooded rice fields and houses on stilts! there were quite a few fishermen and water buffalos in the river, all the locals waved and shouted hello from their boats and houses, very friendly people.

We stayed overnight in the border town of Cham Doc which was okay apart from the hotel having bed bugs, yuk! The next day we took a boat to the Cham Ethnic minority village, their village is in the water and all on wooden stilts with suspended wood bridges to get around, the children were very sweet and I brought a beautiful hand made silk scarf. We also visited a fish farm where the fish go crazy at feeding time, at one point I was covered in fishy water lol!

We then took a bus and another ferry with our destination being Ho Chi Min City, Saigon.

With love, Caz and Craig xxx
