New friend Damian is planning on getting married here in the next couple of months ad this morning pops in to invite us to a 'good luck' ceremony at the missus' amily house tonight. A bit later her mother comes by to make the invitation official.
Jiap and Boy have gone out for the day so things are nice and quiet for a while.
We bike across the village about 17:00 as requested and are one of the first to arrive t the 'party'. I dont usually go to these things any more but felt that I should support a fellow Englishman. About 18:30, seven monks arrive and the chanting soon begins. This is followed by a blessing from one of the village medicine men and then everyone tying pieces of string around the happy couple's wrists. We then have something to eat washed down with a few beers. Dot know why I dont go more often really as I quite enjoy listening to the monks, so long as they dont go on too long !
