Jai opens her birthday cards in bed with a cuppa and Sue & Tom and Michelle and the dogs win the prizes for getting cards delivered this year. Maybe some more will arrive later but thanks anyway to everybody who sent one.
Jai had baked 2 dozen small currant buns yesterday so this morning it is a treat for the village monks as she stops them as they pass the house on their food rounds. She doesnt do this very often but always on her birthday for good luck.
We spend most of the morning in the kitchen cooking a large pan of curry - well, Jai cooking and me watching to be more accurate. I do help out with making some bread finger rolls which with some small sausages will make a beer snack for this afternoon.
George, Wan and daughter Maria arrive about 2 o'clock and John comes about an hour later on his own. His wife has gone off digging cassava for someone and will join us this evening. Jai's sister in law from next door pops round but fortunately doesnt stay very long. The rice cutting season has just started and a lot of people are busy. I call neighbour Deu round for a beer but after a small glass he is off again in his truck round the farms. Jai's nephew Tia who takes care of her rice for us when we are away calls in for a beer but again doesnt stay very long.
George and family leave early evening but after his wife has joined us we eat with John and stay drinking until about 9pm.
After everyone has left we begin the big clear up before turning in feeling quite mellow.
