There's certainly no shortage of parties on this island. Whether they be for Christmas or just any excuse for a party.
We were caught out the first Thursday we were here. It was the turn of the Ozone Bar a few hundred feet away from us to hold a party. We'd gone to bed and were fast asleep when the music was cranked up at midnight. A rude awakening! We thought it would go on for half an hour or so then stop. But oh no! 4.30am before it finally stopped leaving us feeling exhausted the next day.
We soon learned that this was a regular occurance every Thursday. After considering all the options we came to the conclusion that ' if you can't beat 'em....join 'em!!
Not that we wanted to join in at the Ozone bar with it's nasty ear piercing techno music, but the owner of the tiny 'Jam Bar' sandwiched in between our bungalows and the Ozone bar said he stayed open on Thursdays to cater for people who couldn't sleep. Namely most of the guests from Blue Sky Bungalows.
So when Thursday came around again we were ready with our plan.
After a slow start with
a beer on our verandah with a neighbour we all headed to Jam bar around midnight. It was already buzzing and we soon got talking to a Swedish couple who announced they liked rock n roll. The bar man pulled some Elvis up on his phone plugged into a speaker and quickly drowned out the music from Ozone.
Eventually more and more people arrived many from Blue Sky and before we know it it was 4.10am. We all decided to call it a day and within minutes of dropping on the bed Ozone's music stopped too. Result! No tossing and turning for hours.
Of course we didn't wake up next day until almost 10am but at least we'd had six hours uninterrupted sleep.
All too soon Christmas eve arrived and we saw signs advertising a party at Ozone again.
We started the night off with Sharon ,Scott and the kids. Dinner together followed by a fire show and watching lanterns being set off on the beach.
When they went off to bed we joined the party at Jam bar again and met a whole load of new people, mai ly Swedes again. We all danced the night away to Abba..
Its now Christmas day and for a while we've definitely had enough parties!!
Christmas day.
Despite the late night we jumped on a tuk tuk bright and early to Sharon's bungalow to see what Santa had brought the kids.
They were already in full swing opening presents. Wrapping paper everywhere!
After an hour or so we headed to the beach before getting lunch overlooking the ocean. The kids were delighted to be given balloons to play with.
After lunch Jake went off for a much needs nap and we walked back home along the beach. The cloudy weather had truly cleared up and it was hot! I mean hot! We dropped into the sea back at our end to cool down before a much needed siesta back at the by bungalow.
Woke up to hear the phone buzz. Sharon and Scott were on their way to watch sunset at our end and then all go to dinner again.
Never got ready so fast in my life!
