mi 'new' familia
mi 'granddaughter' Ahora
5 weeks
and
Ea or Ee or ... (not sure to write her name so i decided to go pick up my luggage on the 7th of May ... i took the train with about 30 others at 5'30am ... as they had been in this very special place the local worshippers/retreaters got their traintickets for free ... just when i felt as one i was faced again that i'm the one sticking out ... in any way you can see it and thus had to pay for the train ticket ... oh well ... c'est la vie ... and who cares ... a few dollars more on an experience of a lifetime ... when i got back to Kanchanaburi it turned out my guesthouse was full accept for the luxurious airconditioned double bed rooms for which i then had to pay 4x as much ... i respectfully declined and went to an internet cafe to do some banking ... thereafter phil and Ea hadn't opened up yet (where i left my luggage ...) and decided to spoil myself after a 5 days sleeping on the hard tile floor, with a massage ... aaaahhh the little pleasures of life ...
When i finally got back to Phil he invited mi to stay with him,
the whole family on the scooter
and this time it was 'my' family ... after all these moments in time thinking how wonderful and dangerous it is to travel with the kids ... here proud and very careful Phillip takes charge ... Ea and Ahora ... i thankfully accepted and thus for the next two days and nights i was living in a bar/restaurant ... for a change a chosen extreme contradiction in mi life ... from the hard tilefloor of a convent/meditation retreat ... to the very comfortable cushions of a lounge bar ... and both i feel as if it's my home ... as the bar is frequented more by the local expats (french, kiwis, dutch, english etc) the occasional passer-by (like mi), and the local thai friends it's usually quiet ... the weirdest part was on the 8th my 'last' night in the "real" world in southeast asia ... where in a corner of the bar i was repacking my duffelbag and back bag, all by myself, i thought ... i turned around after what only seemed like 5 minutes, which happened to be 30 min, and there was phil serving the crowd, which somehow had sneeked in ... dutch, french and thai for the night and then of course the one kiwi amidst us ... mi dear friend Phil ... i don't think i would have felt as home as i did if not for Phillip ... like
Ahora doesn't care ...
i think she thought all these adults are really boring and a good yawn would wake them up ... i (re)met my young brother ... we shared laughter and a tear (or something like it ...) but most of all we just laughed and laughed and laughed ... really my memories of this trip and the person who comes to mind (without the wedding of course) are respectively, Ghislaine, Gin, Pheng, Saeng, Pen & Dheng and Phillip ... can consider myself real blessed ... and then there were of course Chantal, Michiel, Emilie and Melissa, and ..... consider myself real REAL blessed ... alrighty back to Phil
After Moos and famila left (Jane & nephew IQ) the french hang out bit ... one is retired lives 6 months out of the year in thailand ... Christophe and ... shoot i 4got, one of them english teacher and when i heard his accent i realized i don't have to worry bout mine (as ..... had heavy russian accent she had more difficulty getting jobs ...) anyway i wanted to have one more margarita on mi trip and we ended up in a western bar with a great life band ... when i checked them out better one of the french man had spend the last 2.5 hrs with had
melissa
walked by Phil's place and overheard me and Moos talking dutch ... she joined in and we spend a few good hours together over 2-3 days ... although half mi age we bonded and she had a mind i fell in like with ... definitly one of 'my kids' i will see again in mi life ... joined in on the bonga and was drumming away totally in the band's groove ... was nice ... however again better to show with pictures ... mi last night in the real thailand ...
The next day i finally went for a swim in the river Kwai (which by the way is the cleanest river i've seen; Moses says it's because their are 4 mountains feeding it ... ) anyway at the beginning of my stay in kanchaburi i had kayaked with 6 others down the Kwai ... actually think of the 4.5hrs down the river i might have rowed 15 minutes ... the rest we were taken gently down by the current ... had a lot of fun with my co-pilot Emilie, a frenchie who had told mi she's used to hefty rivers (she comes from the Haute Savoie), but no, she couldn't even steer left or right ... i had wisefully sat in the back and was able to steer us correctly down the river ... with a few stops at some bushbush/jungle trees when we would lose our fellow kayakers after we had kayaked a bit ...
back to my swim the last day ...
so at home ...
i was even able to borrow Phil's scooter to run some errands ... gotta say, walking is toughest in the sweltering heat, then the scooter is nice too, but the helmet is so f***ing hot ... my preference for mode of transportation is still the bycicle even in the heat ... with a good bike you peddle a bit, and while resting the bike just takes ya along ... a whole story which involve merits, rewards and tasted by fish ... too long to describe but for those who have expierenced that moment a smile will occur on their faces ... by a bl***y blowfish (related to those f***ing japanese blowfish from which you die if not correctly prepared) ... anyway again i had a wonderful time by hosts Moos and Jane ... a nice sunset, a nice dialogue ... all good ... and then i went back to the convent ...
