Thailand - we are back!!!

Hallo allerseits! Wir melden uns hiermit mit unserem Blog ueber die letzte Station unserer Weltreise. Auch wenn das mehr oder weniger ein Nachtrag ist - nachdem wir ja eigentlich schon wieder daheim sind - wollen wir euch dennoch daran teilhaben lassen.

Nachdem wir also unseren Aufenthalt in Bali mehr oder weniger krank im Zimmer verbracht haben - und somit nicht viel ueber Bali berichten koennen - gings dann endlich gesund und munter weiter nach PHUKET, THAILAND, wobei wir in Phuket nur eine Nacht verbracht haben, da Carina schon dort war und gar nicht sooo begeistert. Also haben wir nur eine Massage und einen Haarschnitt genossen und haben gleich in der Frueh die Faehre nach KOH PHI PHI genommen. Naja, auch das war nicht ganz so idyllisch, wie ich mir das vorgestellt hatte (aber die Carina hat das ja eh prophezeit)…. Das Wasser war trueb und schmutzig und es hat meistens auf der ganzen Insel gestunken, aber dafuer haben die taeglichen Parties gehalten, was sie versprochen haben 😊. Die Preise sind fuer Thailand allerdings nicht ohne! So haben wir ein paar Tage gefeiert und genossen, bis ich beobachtet habe, wie viele Leute hier abends ins Wasser pinkeln (vor allem maennliche Ferkeln), sich uebergeben etc… (genauer moechte ich darauf gar nicht eingehn). Damit war auch unsere Badefreude versaut, weswegen wir kurzerhand ein Longtailboat an einen anderen Strand genommen haben und, mit Brille und Schnorchel bewaffnet, die Unterwasserwelt bestaunt haben. Aber auch das nur so lange, bis Carina ein eher unliebsames Date mit einer Qualle hinter sich gebracht hat. Abgesehen davon, mussten wir uns staendig auf dieser kleinen Insel vor einem Verrueckten verstecken, der seit dem Flugzeug einen Narren an Carina gefressen hatte. Na, das war wohl nix, also lieber weiter nach KHO SAMUI! Die letzte Faehre nach KOH PHANGAN haben wir auch grad noch erwischt, nachdem wir ja beide schon auf Koh Samui waren. Somit waren wir einige Tage vor der FULL MOON PARTY da, was auch gut so war, da wir immerhin genug Zeit hatten, uns um ein -noch- relativ billiges Zimmer zu Suchen! Die Preise 2 Tage vor und nach der Party erreichen ja fast schon westeuropaeische Hoehen!!! Wir hatten Glueck. Allerdings ohne Aircon, was zu dieser Jahreszeit ein Fehler war. Aber zumindest Geld gespart hamma! 😊 Natuerlich simma gleich am ersten Abend -ungeplant- bei einer Strand-Schaum-Party abgestuerzt… zum relaxen sind wir dann doch noch fuer eine Nacht ein bisschen weiter nordwestlich auf einen kleinen Strand (HAAD YAO) gezogen, bevor wir wieder zurueck nach HAAD RIN sind, um uns mit meinem Freund und Arbeitskollegen Ricardo zu treffen, der auch gerade auf Urlaub war. Das hat in einer Tequila-Session zur Mittagszeit und einer Pool-Party geendet. Und selbstverstaendlich tags darauf auch mitten in der hochgepreisten FULL MOON PARTY! Na sewas! Vielleicht waren wir auch einfach ein wenig zu nuechtern, aber ich sag nur eines: da geht die Post ab! Alles und jeder, der sich auf der Insel befindet, trifft sich an diesem einen Strand um so richtig und vollgas die Sau raus zu lassen! Beat und Bass aus Boxen, die in 3 Reihen gestapelt am Strand aufgebaut werden… man kann das gar nicht beschreiben, das muss man sehen! Aber das war sogar irgendwann uns (bzw. der Party-Queen Carina) zuviel (ich zitiere: Na, das is a Schass, da kann ja jeder hingehn!) Naja, das ist ja wohl auch der Sinn der Sache und das ist nicht das Grazer Spring-Festival) 😊. Aber wie gesagt, man muss es wohl einmal gesehen haben, wenn man schon da ist!
Jedenfalls haben wir uns eingebildet, dass wir noch 2 Naechte an einen anderen Strand fahren koennen, bis uns unsere Nachbarin Cassie erinnert hat, dass der April aber nur 30 Tage hat, nicht die 31, mit denen wir gerechnet haben (aus unerfindlichen Gruenden). OHOH, na so was, wir fliegen ja dann schon morgen!!!! Na, nichts desto trotz haben wir uns in ein Sammel-Taxi geschwungen und sind trotzdem noch fuer eine Nacht an den SRITHANAO Beach gefahren.
Tja, und von dort direkt zur Faehre nach zurueck Koh Samui, mit dem Flieger ab nach Bangkok (wo man dank der Redshirts als Tourist nur noch in ein Viertel durfte). Bloed, denn wir haben extra Zeit fuer shoppen und Massage eingerechnet… na, dann halt nur Spa. Der Taxler wollte uns auch noch mal schnell uebers Ohr hauen indem er mitten waehrend der Fahrt den Taxometer ausgeschalten hat, aber man lernt nach 7 Monaten reisen schon auch was dazu - Nix da, mein Freund! Also noch einmal entspannen bei einer super Massage (die Manicure und Pedicure waren leider nicht unbedingt ihr Geld wert). Und dann wieder retour zum Flughafen und ab nach London! Jessas! Is do kalt! 9Grad C und Schnuerlregen. 😊 das geht ja gar net. Wir in Sommergewand und FlipFlops und Sonntag war auch noch! Na, dann bleib ma halt 8h am Flughafen und bummeln, schlafen und essen a bissi…bevor wir auf unserem Heimatflughafen Graz ankommen (und das ohne Gepaeck)!

Wir koennen also ein kurzes alles-in-allem Fazit unserer Reise ziehen: ich glaube, wir koennen getrost sagen, wir haben absolut nichts ausgelassen (ausser Tubing in Vang Vieng) 😊… das naechste mal?...




Hello everyone! We are back with our late(st) entry about our last stop on this journey! Even though this might be belated - since we are already back home - we still want to share this last experience with you.

So after our 10 sick days in Bali - which means we do not have much to tell - we finally made it to PHUKET, THAILAND - fresh and healthy 😊. We only satyed the night, cause Carina had already been here and wasn´t all too excited. So we enjoyed a good massage and a haricut and took the first ferry over to KOH PHI PHI. Well, this wasn´t exactly what I expected (but what Ca predicted). The water was milky and full of trash and the whole island mostly smelled bad, but at least the parties were what every one talked about. The prices are quite high for Thailand though. So we stayed a few days enjoying and partying, but only until I found out how many people (mostly guys) pee and puke etc in the water… (I spare you the rest and the details). So our urge to jump in the ocean got kinda killed… we had to take a longtail boat to some other beach where we enjoyed the afternoon snorkeling, but only until Ca had a quite unpleasant meeting with a jellyfish…😊. On top of it we had to hide all the time on this little island from some crazy guy who somehow kept sticking to Ca from the moment he saw her in the airplane. So this obviously wasn´t real vacation, so we flew to KPH SAMUI (where we´ve both been already), and managed to catch the last ferry to KOH PHANGAN the same day. We were lucky with the room since we arrived a few days before the FULL MOON PARTY, which lets the room rates rise up to almost western european hights!!! Unfortunately we didn´t take an Aircon room which turned out to be not he smartest move at this time of the year. But at least we saved money! 😊. That first night we got stuck at a beach-foam-party which was great fun but made us leave to northwestern Haad Yao for the next night - just out of energy-saving-purposes. Back in Hat Rin we met my freind and colleague Ricardo, who was on vacation as well. Now, that ended in a Tequila-Session around noon and a Pool-Party at night. And - of course - at the famous FULL MOON PARTY! Wow! Maybe we were a bit too sober, it seemed like everything and everyone on the island met on this one beach to party full power! Beat and Bass out of 3 rows of speaker stacks on the beach!!! There is no way to describe it, you have to see it yourself! But even for us (or better: for the party queen Ca) this was too much at one point (quote: that´s shit, everyone can just go there!) Well, now that is the main purpose and this is not the Spring festival in Graz! 😊. But you definitely have to see it when you are already there.
Anyway, after that hangover day we decided to spend the last 2 nights on some other quiet beach. But guess what? We found out that we only have 1 night left (thanks to our neighbour Cassie) since April only has 30 days, not the 31 we counted on 😊 ooopssss… well, we still managed to go to SRITAHNAO beach that day and left the next morning directly for the ferry back to Koh Samui and and the flight to Bangkok where we had planned to do some last shopping and a massage. The shopping part didn´t go so well due to the redshirts and the police not letting any tourists into the main areas. But we managed to go for a last very good massage and a not so good manicure and pedicure. And we had a last incident with a taxidriver trying to rip us off by turning off the meter halfway. But after 7 months of these experiences we were tough: nonono, my friend! No way!).
Back at the airport we boarded for London where we also had a stopover of 8hours. But hell, it had 9degrees C and it was raining. And we were in summer clothes and flipflops. And on top of it, it was Sunday! So we spent these hours walking and sleeping and eating…until we finally arrived at the airport in our hometown Graz (both without luggage)!

So, our short all-in-one conclusion of this travel: we think we really can say, we didn´t miss anything (except tubing in Vang Vieng) 😊…
