Squid fishing boats
These were moored at chalok bay in Koh Phagnan, notice the differant bulbs, energy saver, halogen etc. 1.5 hrs by ferry we arrived at the small pier. Koh Tao for 3 nights then on to Koh Phagnan by ferry for another 3 nights before leaving by ferry/bus to the west coast at Krabi.
We ate fish, fish and more fish, excellent barracuda, squid and red snapper and drank lots of fruit shakes and fresh coconuts to ward off dehydration. Water was so warm but a bit murky due to the tides(moon)The tide was so far out that whilst dropping laundry off in the next village on koh Tao,I decided to buy a bottle of wine and save time by cutting the bay and wading across thigh deep,it took about 20 minutes, all for a drink!
The reefs in both islands are amazing, the best colours and variety of fish. We stayed in the quiet areas of the islands as there is a big party scene especially during full moon. We hired a scooter on Koh Phagnan as it is much bigger than Koh Tao,very hot on the bike once you stop riding, better on the move. Pretty lazy on Tao but did alot of exploring on Phagnan, 2 waterfalls with no water! Lots of small villages and dirt tracks,a dangerous place
