Well first of all I have to say thanks so much for the lovely comments you have made ... it is great to know that people are actually reading this blog and enjoying hearing about our travels! Sorry I have not replied ... just been SOOOOO busy doing SOOOOO much and yet still SOOOOO relaxed! Also sorry for all the typos ... there is no spell check and lets face it ... I'm on holidays! I can hardly remember what the last blog update was ... but I think it was our quiet morning in the unit enjoying the place and the view! We used our inifinity pool and read books ... the boys played hide and seek (there are just so many places to hide here!) and we headed off after lunch on another adventure! ... read more

Sadly we have now had 4 sleeps at this amazing place in Koh Samui ... which means there are only another 4 left before we continue on our Thailand adventure. Since my last post we have been doing lots of relaxing ... let me share a bit of that with you now ... On Saturday afternoon we headed down to the north coast of Koh Samui to Mae Nam beach again ... we have found this to be our favourtie area so far on this trip. We had read about a little local bar that was worth a visit so we set out to find it. Thankfully with our car we can take lots of wrong turns and eventually find our way. The boys just don't understand why we keep getting lost! It is funny how ... read more

Well we are starting to feel like we are finding our way a little in this new area that we have never been to before. Hiring a car has given us great freedom to explore and find things that are off the main roads and not otherwise easily accessible. Yesterday afternoon we set off on our first real adventure and the boys got to see a couple of Thai Temples that are well known on Koh Samui. A couple of photos are attached. They were quite interested surprisingly ... especially at the Golden Budda where they were blessed with holy water that was sprinkled over them by a Monk. Blake is still talking about it today and he wants to "go and visit the Monk again." Funny! We found a pancake cart and wanted to try ... read more

Well it has been a fun filled 24 hours ... After enjoying a lovely 3 course Thai lunch yesterday at the resort we ventured down the hill to the local town on Bang Po. We walked along the secluded beach (this is not a very busy area of the island so we were not around many other tourists) and enjoyed a drink in a quiet beach bar whilst the boys played in the sand. There will be more of this as it was so peaceful and relaxing. Given the boys were running on less than 5 hours sleep from the night before we dropping in a 7-11 to pick up some "ready made" dinner for the boys and they at in the room fairly early and went to bed by 7pm local time (10pm Aussie time!). ... read more

Koh Samui 18/5/13 We spent a long night at Singapore airport after arriving at midnight. While I love the airport, it is not much fun when all the shops shut at around 1 am and all the reclining chairs are taken up by sleeping bodies. I think that next time; we might get a transit room if staying overnight. 19/5 We left for Koh Samui at 8 am and arrived 1.5 hrs later, which was about 8.30 due to time zone changes. It was very warm and humid just the way I like it. We caught a mini bus from the airport to the Saboey resort and couldn't be bothered getting a cheaper one outside the airport as we were both exhausted. We were able to have the room early which was lucky and went for ... read more

Lets get festive....!!! 21/12 We got up and had our free breakfast (in Koh Pagnan!) and checked out. We booked our taxi plus ferry ticket to Koh Samui, and transfer in samui from our hotel. It cost us 550 baht for all three which was a good deal, as the ferry ticket alone would have been 450 baht. Our taxi driver to the ferry port was none other than Charlie the barman! We jumped in the back of his pick up with our cases and headed to the ferry port. We got our sticker for the ferry, with our hotel name written on and boarded the ferry. It only took half an hour to get to Samui, but was a bit of a rocky ride at the front of the Lomproyah catamaran. We got on our ... read more

We left Koh Tao during a torrential downpour hoping that by the time we arrived in Ko Samui the storm and bad weather had passed. After a relatively calm 2 hour journey at sea (well it couldn’t have been any worse than last time) we arrived at Nathon Pier at the northern tip of Samui to grey skies; the cockroaches-come-taxi drivers wanted an extortionate 550-700Bht for the journey to Chaweng Beach and after trying to tell us that no local transport run’s this route we managed to find someone who pointed us in the right direction of the local Songthaw’s (open sided bus). The journey took a little over an hour due to the amount of stops we had to make but at 75% saving on the taxi price it was more than fine. It is ... read more

I get the early morning boat over to Koh Samui and arrive around midday. The rain is torrential. A cab driver takes me to Bophut where my parents are staying but wants me to run to the car first because its so wet: “no, no you first you first” I say. “no you first!" he retorts. "Oh this is ridiculous! Alright then!” I get to my parents hotel. As my father has generously informed me its all booked up I have to go find my own accommodation now i'm here. I stand in front of them wondering how long it will take my mother to see me! Then I head off to find a cheap (although at 700b a night not that cheap) b and b down the road. “Have you started drinking again?” says my ... read more

Our half day trip in Phi Phi was a lot of fun. We boarded a longtail boat and headed out. We got to go swimming in a secluded area and also snorkeling right off Maya Beach. We then went to Maya Beach but there were so many tourists. The movie "The Beach" has made the beach so popular that you can not relax. We also visited monkey beach on the way back to Phi Phi Don. Monkey Beach was really sad. Approaching the island there is a big sign reading "DO NOT FEED THE MONKEYS DO NOT POLLUTE". When we arrived we found all of the tourists feeding the monkeys and the tiny beach was soooooo polluted. Monkeys were drinking cans of Pepsi that tourists left behind. You all know how I feel about cruelty to ... read more
