Did you notice the change of continent?

In the interim I wrote a blog post entitled 'Stranded on Heron Island' when we were given an hour's worth of free internet access after the ferry failed to show up on our departure day. However since there is no sign of that entry, the internet was as unreliable as the ferry - blame the bad weather, a spin off of cyclone Donna that caused big damage in Vanuatu, about 1800 km away.

Since the last posted entry a lot has happened and we're exhausted so I'm going to let the photos briefly tell the story...

Beautiful when the sun shone ?

Apparently it is very difficult to sleep when the 120,000-ish terns along with 30,000 wedgetailed shearwaters are on this little island in the breeding season!

The white cap apparently evolved to keep the little black terns' heads from overheating

It was wonderful to be able to see many turtles, sting rays and juvenile black tip sharks from shore. We were also lucky enough to witness some turtle hatchlings on their first journey from nest to sea although almost traumatic to see the gulls snatching some up ?

We also met James, another friend from Uni days, but the weather ruined our planned Bonte Beach to Bondi coastal walk so we ended up in the Icebergs bar and 'forgot' to take any photos!

But I thought this part of our holiday was supposed to be relaxing and doing nothing except reflecting on the past 9 weeks!

Lunch was great but the rest of the trip was definitely NOT relaxing with a strong swell and generally stressful conditions!

And this is where we plan to spend much of tomorrow, weather permitting of course, before the flight to Bangkok on Saturday

More chapters!
It really looks like you've made the most of where you are... in spite of setbacks. You've certainly seen some stunning bits of our world.

Too right
Totally agree! We were starting to think through the whole trip and to try and identify true highlights. For once we were in agreement - Belair's koalas and birds are pretty much top of the list!

It's hard to beat Belair National Park. <3

Amazing massages ?
Thank you for your responses! We are now recovering from some seriously painful massages. Sad that we'll probably undo all the benefits during the flights tomorrow.
