After our travels through Cambodia and Vietnam we stopped for couple of days in Bangkok, to calm down if I can say so when speaking about Bangkok.. and did some last minute shoppings before heading down to the paradise islands. I felt I needed some place to relax and fix my head since I have started to wake up in the mornings with the feeling "where am I" and sometimes during the day I might wonder which place we were yesterday.. so we decided to head to somewhere just to R-E-L-A-X.
This was the very first time for us to go to the Thai islands so randomly we just picked up one, which happened to be Koh Samui located South -Western Thailand. For sure we read some info from the island and heard some stories but basically we did not to know what to expect.
After traveling long hours in the buss from Bangkok we arrived to Suratthanis bus interchange place (location :middle of nowhere) and heard that we needed to wait four hours for our next bus to the harbor Anniina decided to open a beer and I mess with the hot coffee ( yup, I had light
trousers, not anymore). The time was 05.30am.
Waiting itself was ok BUT it always felt that when I thought I have asked everything and prepared to all the things something comes suddenly and unexpectedly. You never and I mean never know.
We were more than happy to finally get to the boat and finally to Koh Samui, which happened to be, well, modestly described like the heaven.
Afterwards I could say and fill in 12 reasons, why you should visit Koh Samui;
1. Cheap hotels: Our fantastic Pop Art Akwa Guesthouse was like a dream. So cheap and so funky!
2. 100% pure relaxation: Hey, almost every hotel or resort is 15 seconds way to the beach, less if you are in a hurry. Sea is everywhere, it's an island 😉
3. Fantastic nature with adventurous activities: So many things to see and do if wanted so.
4. Ancient healing body therapy & spa: Surprisingly Koh Samui was not that much more expensive than e.g. Bangkok to take therapies or massages
5. Sun and Stunning sunsets: Oh, the SUN, I couldn't get enough, I was like a some reptile lying on the beach and rearching the sun.
Only this time I didn't need to search, it came without asking. And the sunsets..No need to describe them more
6. Fine Thai - and other cuisine: The food was once again yummy. Oh gosh I was putting on weight there, should go vice versa.
7. Friendly Thai people: Even though it was a high season when we were there locals were not so aggressive and the beaches were not crowded at all
8. Affordable shopping: But I just bought souvenirs this time..
9. Celebration : Excellent place for the couples, single travelers and even for older people as well
10. Several temples: Big Buddha and so called famous Grandma and Grandpa stones..which we skipped. Too much temples already, we had seen enough for now.
11. The island portal to the world famous Full Moon Party at Koh Phangan: Oukei, I admit, we skipped them, but it was not full moon when we were there. Did we miss something really great?!?
12. Fun nightlife: Every evening we got invitations to somewhere. Once we e.g. got the tickets including dress code " So Sexy and So White" yep, normal travelers clothes aren't they?!
We were planning to spend three nights
in Samui but instead of that we actually stayed there six nights until the days were running up to go to our next and at the same time last beach destination on our way. The famous Krabi was calling us!
