Hello everyone!!
Thank you for all your messages, they are really lovely!
We will definately be cooking up some Thai curries when we get home, and definately my favourite Pad Thai (yummy!).
We left Chiang Mai as planned on Sunday at around 8am, we arrived at the train station after a short Tuk Tuk ride (as mad as ever) and booked our tickets straight away, 2nd class to Bangkok.
The train journey was 12 hours long, I fell asleep and Phil completed yet another book. We had free food on the train (amazing for 2nd class!) that was actually nicer than the food you pay for on the sleeper train.
After about 8-9 hours, we got really fed up of being stuck on there, the trains go soooooo slowly.
So on impulse, we jumped off the train at the last second at Ayutthaya (one of the former Thai capitals).
We hopped skipped and jumped on a Tuk Tuk (not quite so gracefully) and made our way to one of the places in our Lonely Planet Guide called PU's house. It was cheap (about 6pound for a double room) and clean, and had a good
restaraunt.
Then on Monday, we caught a train back to Bangkok (took about 2 hours) and then waited in the train station for 5 hours for the train to Surat Thani. Sitting on the floor on the train station for that long isnt good! Unfortunately we didnt get a chance to have a look aroung Ayutthaya, but Im sure we will next time we come to Thailand.
Got on the sleeper train at about 5:30, obviously it left late! As they seem to do here, and made it to Surat Thani (later than planned) at 6am this morning.
We were so knackered and as we left the station were plagued by all these people asking where we were going, if we had tickets etc etc. We really wernt in the mood, tired, hungry and hot arent a good combination!
We then had to wait ages for the coach, which took us to some little shack in the middle of no where, we had to give our tickets in, wait 15 minutes and then get back on the coach! What a waste of time. So back on the coach for about an hour, fell asleep for a
while, and luckily woke up about 10 minutes before we reached the pier.
We then got on this small boat, which they somehow managed to fit about 300 people on. Sat on the front outside (topping up my tan of course!) and then waited for about 45 minutes for all the other people to get on. More coaches kept pulling up and it seemed like we were going to be there for ever!!!
1.5 hours later and we arrived at Samui. Wont bore you with any more travelling details.
Just to say, after all the time and effort it took us to get here it definately looks worth it. We are staying at the Jungle Club in Chaweng Valley (Chaweng Beach) for anyone that wants to have a look.
We are staying in a Jungle hut, which is really cool. And the place is gorgeous! Not really for backpackers, but hey we thought we would stay out of the town a little bit.
It is as the top of the hill making the Chaweng Valley, and the only way to get up there is by jeep which one of the crazy men from our hotel
drives.
We just got a lift down here with 2 other girls and were hanging on to anything we could so we didnt fall off the edge :-)
So we're just down in the town now, having a look around! Should be going to see some Thai Boxing tomorrow so will keep you all informed.
Lots of Love to you all. xxxxx
