I can't believe it's been so long since I wrote the last blog after visiting Siam Reap we decided to have our final night party there as a few of our group had to leave very early for flights etc the day after we arrived in Bangkok. We went out for a meal and a few drinks at a local restaurant. it was raining heavily as in a real tropical storm rain and we were all dressed up ready to go out on the town. However the rain did not deter us and we proceeded from the restaurant to a place where there was some music and dancing. The night went with a swing and copious amounts of alcohol were consumed. Certainly a night that I will remember for a very long time.
The next morning we set off to the Cambodian border which was quite strange as you had to walk about 700meters from the Cambodian border to the Thai border, a sort of no mans land. We were met at the Thai border by some pretty cool vehicles, they were like a large version of a four by four, with luxurious leather seats air-con, the works very comfortable
which was good because I needed some sleep after the night before. I felt a tinge of sadness leaving Cambodia it was a lovely country that had experienced such hardship. They are now trying so hard to get on their feet but the war definitely has held them back. The people there are so lovely, would like to go back one day.
We arrived in Bangkok at around four thirty and at five thirty I met my god daughter and her brother who had travelled from Perth to Bangkok to do some travelling. My god daughter had just finished uni and her brother lives in Perth. We went for a meal and walk around then at nine thirty we joined the rest of our group for a final night drink before people departed.
After that with went to meet my god daughters sister who arrived in Bangkok on Friday we spent the day together drinking a little too much in the afternoon, but very enjoyable.
Saturday I departed for Krabi in need of a little rest and relaxation after so many early mornings and late nights. I stayed at a place called AoNang which is the next
resort on from Krabi. It's a small town mostly shops and restaurants. The hotel I stayed in was very pleasant and the pool overlooked a large area of mangrove. After being suitable refreshed a caught the boat to Phi Phi island. The weather for the last two days hadn't been too good but thankfully the crossing was smooth and the day stayed dry.
When you get to the island there are no roads for cars everything is transported on trolleys by porters. They don't have any horns but they go around shouting peep, peep for people to get out of the way!!!! The pathways are quite narrow and some people ride bikes so you have to be aware. On the way back to my hotel this evening I walked past a karaoke bar which they seem to love over here!!! It sounded like someone had just stood on a cats tail, but they were really enjoying it, dancing and cheering, obviously enjoying themselves.
