Just what you need after a heavy nights booze,ANOTHER boat trip.We got up handy cos Neil was getting back over to Krabi.Im sure id heard monkeys on my roof in the night but maybe it was the bong.Anyway this time it was another bamboo...the island.Emma and Matt had told me to make sure I went so we hired a longtail for 3 hours and shot over there through quite bad winds.....well bad enough to be making the boat unsteady with 2 hangovers in there but we made it alive to beutiful Bamboo.Just when I thought the waters couldnt get clearer as well.Absolutely crystal WELL out to see.I had to rub my eyes to check id actually woke up.We sat off on there for a few hours on our own little bay. Then did a quick scoot round the island in the boat and back to Ton sai. I said my goodbyes to Neil.If you read this mate it was a pleasure. But luckily hes going back to good things. So all on my lonesome again I went to check the lookout. Now i do actually walk alot when im away but this was STEEP!!My legs were killing by the time I got the
top but made a miraculous recovery when I started talking to 2 sweet american girls. The sunset of the viewing point was great and well worth the walk but It was time to get back to my beach and sort my stuff as I was leaving Thailand in 2 days for Cambodia.
The morning after I had read about a little secluded beach which was a 30 min walk away.So before I heade back to Phuket I took an early morning stroll over there..as usual getting lost. There was nobody there except what looked like a western fella cleaning the beach, slowly, content what a life i was thinking.I was made up ,a beach to myself! And it was beautiful, there was only one place on here which was the western guys so I thought Id go have a talk with him after a stroll around. He was an eastern european man whod lived on that beach for 11 years.I said ""ïts beautiful here"" and he said ""Not so much now, before the Tsunami definately"" So I started to ask him about the Tsunami and he pointed at a hole in his neck and stomach.Hed got airlifted out. That beach is pretty low surrounded by hills there would
be no way out.He said the first wave wasnt so big but all of a sudden out at sea all you could see was coral...no water then he knew something was gonna happen but couldnt get away. Then as I looked round I realised everything was still getting rebuilt all the land was still pretty torn up there was a bulldozer in the corner.I tried to ask the guy whether he lived alone, maybe something happened to his family etc but he didnt really understand me.Then he got back to sweeping the beach. He said actually cant wait for that side to be developed like the rest of the island
"then I dont have to clean the beach every morning like last 11 years.....shit"
Even in paradise it gets boring...........
So with only 2 days left in Thailand I was feeling kinda gutted and trying to reflect on my time here.Ive had such a great time.ANd its definately been taken to my heart.Mostly because of the people.Ok you see some amazing sites, unbelievable but nothing means more than mixing with the locals. The little muslim girl in Krabi, the tuk tuk driver in Bangkok, this one Thai fella who worked on a boat every day after
about 2 hours sleep everynight who sat next to us one day and just chatted away mostly about girls ...class,Bunky and his friend, having a bong with the taxi driver,The suit seller from tibet who sent his money back to his mum everyweek (ok not a thai but still class)SO MANY experiences of the Thai people.Always smiling ,waving, saying hello,Ok some are after your money but you just have a laugh with them.Like I already said the miserable ones are the westerns with ther fat dollars walking round like they own the place. The thais,Living simple, some living really poor just seem to love life. You can walk past people living in 2 room aliminium huts and the kids all run out to shout "HELLO!!"" In skem they run out to throw stones at your head. And obviously scenic wise the place is out of this world you cant believe your eyes sometime. So all in all Im in love with Thailand. And im gutted to be leaving despite coming back soon enough.Athough I know Im up for one hell of an adventure in Cambodia...
