When I arrived in Krabi, ofcourse they didn't bring us to the pier. Instead they offered a mototaxi for a high price, so I decided to walk. Along the way I put up my thumb and yes, a crazy German guy stopped and brought me to the pier. There I bought my ticket and I was just in time for the next boat to Don Phi Phi.
When I got there, I went looking for a cheap hostel. The cheapest I could find was basically a big room with 20 beds and not much more. It was fine for me though, I wasn't planning on staying at the hostel all day. I met up with a couchsurfer after dropping my stuff at one of the bunkbeds and had some lunch. We talked a lot and it got late, so we decided to take a walk. On our way we met some girls from the hostel that I met before, so they tagged along. Juan first showed us the bars at the beachfront, but it was a bit like Khao San Road in Bangkok or in other words: too crazy for me! Bucket drinking tourists who probably got drunk already somewhere
during midday, people doing fire performances, loud music and many many many people. I guess Juan saw it on my face, so we went through it quickly. We couldn't go around it either because it was high tide and the sea almost got inside the bars, so the beach and the ocean were kind of like the dancefloor.
When we reached the end, we walked to a really nice bar where there were just enough people, chatting and playing pool and the music was a big plus for me (old rock music). We had a few beers and then I went back.
Juan had to work the next morning, but had told us about some nice places to go around the island. I went with one of the girls from the day before (Anna) for a hike. We went to a beach called "Loh Moo Dee",so we had to go over the hill to get there. It was very hot so when we finally reached the beach, we went for a swim first. Don Phi Phi is a very touristic island, but this beach was so quiet! I think there were 8 people max. We stayed there for a
while before going back and only because we got hungry.
On our way back, we found a nice infinity pool at the beach. There was a big sign saying "for guests only" but there was no fence and I didn't see anyone guadring the pool either, so I jumped in. Anna was scared to get caught. She even apologized to a guy who was in the pool saying "I'm sorry, my friend is crazy" after I jumped in the pool in front of him. I was having so much fun because she felt so embarrassed for nothing. Anyway we didn't stay too long and kept walking back after this refreshing splash. We also made some pictures on swings on the way (they are everywhere here) and underneath one of them, there was a woman (Dailyn) who was working with her laptop on the beach and we got into a conversation with her. She had so many stories and I couldn't get enough of them, but Anna was really hungry and wanted to go back, so Dailyn gave me her phone number to meet up later some time.
She asked us if we wanted to come with her on a
boat trip the next morning. She needed to shoot some pictures for her blog and one in particular of her wearing an orange dress. She has these amazing pictures around the world wearing this dress. It would be handy for her to have someone joining her to make the picture. For us ofcourse it was also an opportunity to go to Phi Phi Lay, the other island, which is famous from the movie "The Beach". The Maya bay has been closed though because over the years, tourist have trampled the coral there. I get why people wanted to visit that beach, but I think it's a good thing they closed it.
In the morning there were some dark clouds and Dailyn texted that she'd rather do something else today and postpone the boat trip another day. For me that was fine, but Anna was leaving later that day. The three of us decided to hike to a few viewpoints on the island. When we got back Dailyn and I went for a smoothie and then we decided to go for a swim because it was very hot and we just went for a few hours hike so we needed
some relax time. We went to Long beach where we stayed the rest of the day snorkeling and sunbathing. We just kept chatting so eventually we went to the restaurant that was right on the beach. Eventually I went back to the hostel but just to get some sleep because we would get on a boat early in the morning or else I could've stayed chatting with her all night!
The next morning we hired a guy with a longtail boat to take us around Phi Phi Lay for a few hours. It was really nice! We went snorkeling in different bays and we saw so many fish. I also saw a few black fin sharks, a huge jellyfish and we found Nemo & his friends.
When we got back from our trip, I still had a few hours left before my ferry would leave, so we decided to sneak into a resort to plunge in the pool. Then we went to a bay to shoot the picture of her wearing the orange dress (during the boat trip it wasn't possible eventually because she didn't find a good spot). Check her out on @photographiechik or www.photographiechik.com
After that I really had to run to catch my ferry. Luckily I was on time and got on board the next adventure.
